Ray Lewis suffers triceps injury as Ravens beat Cowboys

Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis stood on the sideline and watched as the Cowboys drove down the field and nearly pulled off a fourth-quarter comeback on Sunday in Baltimore. After the game, the Ravens said it was a triceps injury that sidelined Lewis.

Lewis, who has been the subject of some talk recently that he’s losing a step and may be close to calling it quits, was off to a big start to the game before the injury. Lewis was credited with 14 total tackles, most of any player in any of Sunday’s early afternoon games.

There’s been no word on the severity of Lewis’s injury.

Very bad news for Ravens' defense: The team fears torn triceps for LB Ray Lewis and torn ACL for CB Lardarius Webb, according to sources.

Right. I'm sure it's no coincidence that the game was played at M&T Bank Stadium. Seems like he gets 5 or less (usually less) everywhere else.

It was probably really more like 2 or 3 actual tackles while getting credited by the homer statistician with another 11 or 12 for his typical "Ray-Ray Specials" (jump on top of the pile after the play is already over). :coffee:

They are already having major problems stopping the run - they allowed 220+ yards rushing to the Cowgirls today. Without Lewis and Ngata, they are completely boned. Webb's injury is a killer also, because now they will have to rely more on an aging Ed Reed. If Lewis does have a torn triceps, that will essentially end his career.

Hate to be happy for injuries, but the Steelers need something to level the playing field...especially at this point.

Wow Webb's collision didn't look anywhere NEAR that bad. Looked like they just bumped knees.

Ravens probably need to fire their strength and conditioning coach. :chuckle:

Lol...so you'd rather see the Steelers get a beat down instead of listening to the excuses of why the Ravens lost?

You never want to hear of players seriously injured or teams decimated by injuries but this is good news for the steelers imo.

If our goal is to make the playoffs and win the super bowl we are going to need to go through the Ravens to get there.

Ravens injured? Don't like to hear of players injured.

Lewis injured? Yeah, that's not so bad....considering he should still be IN PRISON.

That would happen even if they were all healthy.

Division is RIPE for the taking.

Division is RIPE for the taking.

The loss of Webb is more worrisome than Lewis. Lewis missed four games last season and Baltimore did ok in his absence. He can be replaced at ILB much easier than can Webb at CB.

Having said that, considering Pittsburgh's own injury woes and aging, substandard defense, stating that the division is "ripe" for the taking is a bit over the top.

The Ravens have had magnificent luck with lack of injuries over the past couple seasons. They haven't suffered significant injuries to big playmakers like the Steelers have had. Now we'll see how they handle it, and so far they aren't handling it so well.

This is the kind of season where whoever is the hottest team in November/December is going to go places.
