One of the more unfair monikers out there is that Mike Wallace is simply a "one-trick pony." He's shown that's he's a lot more than that.

Wallace was targeted 11 times against the Raiders and caught 8 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown. He even added an end around.

Tell me if this looks like a one-trick pony based on the routes he was targeted against Oakland.

1 - Dig route (incomplete)
2 - Quick slant (7 yards)
3 - Deep in (16 yards)
4 - Short slant (14 yards)
5 - Screen (7 yards)
6 - Stop-and-go (incomplete)
7 - Deep in (22 yards)
8 - Go route turned into deep in (22 yards, TD)
9 - Dig route (5 yards)
10 - Settle down in soft spot of zone (14 yards)
11 - Deep in (incomplete)

The second half of last year of Wallace was a fluke

He certainly improves our offense. It would be nice to lock down Wallace, Brown (already done) and Sanders for the next 5 years. Ben will have a great run. If we can bring our defense back around, who knows where we will end up.

I think Tomlin gave him that "one trick pony" moniker as a way of motivating him. I don't think he ever really believed it.

Is that worth $11,000,000 a season?

I am not sure I want to the steelers to invest $11,000 a season in Wallace....

BUT I am also not sure pointing to a 100 yard game and TD alone really supports that argument.

In today's NFL, worth has little to do with it. The hard contract to get around is the Vincent Jackson one. If we want to keep Wallace, it will be 11m or so, more if plays consistently well throughout the season. On the open market, he would probably pull down 13-15m.

Like I said, worth is not the criteria in today's NFL. In my opinion, no WR is WORTH 15m.
