The irony. :chuckle:
Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian presidential candidate, said Wednesday that writing in Rep. Ron Paul’s name on the November ballot “will effectively be meaningless.”

FWIW I agree and Rep. Paul probably does too. Votes are meaningless if they're not counted.
But third party votes *do* have meaning; much more so than (for example) Republican votes in California or Democrat votes in Utah.
And *a whole lot* more than votes cast by partisans who will vote for candidates they don't actually like. If a politician knows that you'll vote for them no matter what they say or do, then they know they can safely ignore you.

Well, one thing the article fails to mention is why it would be meaningless (though Slash loosely stated why).
It's not because he's trying to use the same 'you'll just be giving your vote to Obama' rhetoric, it's because many states don't count write in votes...and the ones that do have certain stipulations, like sore loser laws and having to register by July to be considered for write in.

Was looking through the comments (and not the first time I've heard this from a Democrat), but sound familiar?
"If I wasn't so terrified of Romney winning my swing state of Florida, I would probably vote Johnson. But I simply can't let my vote against Romney go to waste like that"
At least mainstream Dems and Reps can agree on something, right. :chuckle:

What an odd thread. One guy who has no support and won't get any meaningful votes telling people not to "waste" their time voting for another candidate who has no support and also won't receive any meaningful votes. Is it really worth fighting over the possible MAYBE two million vote (And that's probably a stretch itself) scraps left over from the legitimate candidates?

Exactly.
This is like Obama accusing a liberal opponent of being a "race baiting poverty pimp." :chuckle:

A vote for RP would be meaningless regardless of write in laws or even if he somehow got the republican nomination. I'm glad GJ pointed it out though. :chuckle:

Wow... I'm gonna need more of an explanation on that one. How could votes for the Republican nominee be "meaningless"?

Gravis marketing had Romney beating Obama by 3 points two weeks ago. It also has Romney beating Obama in several swing states.
I think Gravis Marketing (which is new to the biz) just may have an agenda here. Johnson won't win 10% in Ohio. Bank it.
