A monument honoring Franco Harris’ Immaculate Reception touchdown will be unveiled at the site of the catch on Saturday, Dec. 22, one day before the 40th anniversary of one of the most recognizable plays in American sports history.

The monument will be located between Heinz Field and Stage AE. Three Rivers Stadium stood on that site on Dec. 22, 1972, when Harris’ miracle touchdown catch rallied the Steelers past the Oakland Raiders, 13-7, for the first playoff win in franchise history.

Harris will be honored at halftime when the Steelers play the Cincinnati Bengals on Dec. 23 at Heinz Field.
“This year marks the 40th anniversary of the ‘Immaculate Reception’ and it will forever have a place in all of our memories,” Steelers president Art Rooney II said in a statement. “Over the years, I have had many fans tell me we should do something to commemorate the exact location of Franco Harris’ catch.”...........
