Tulane starting safety Devon Walker was seriously injured on a helmet to helmet collision with a teammate on the last play of the first half. He had to be given CPR and an IV and was taken from the field in an ambulance.

Good kid. Former walk-on who earned a scholarship. Biomedical major.

Latest word is swelling in the spinal column. They're pumping him with corticosteroids to reduce swelling. When it's safe they'll operate.

I can't make myself watch that play. Poor kid, I hope and pray somehow he can recover to have a quality life.

Another bit of good news. No collapsed lung after all, and the reports of a tracheotomy on the field were incorrect.

There are more and more good reports coming out on him. I hope he'll be able to walk again. :pray:

Doctors reported today that he has some movement in his shoulders. Good early sign...still way too soon to know if we should start celebrating.
