John Fox and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin tried to quiet external talk Wednesday of revenge being a motivating factor in their teams' season opener Sunday night in Denver.

"History doesn't have too much importance on the present," Fox said.

For the Steelers, last season ended at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Jan. 8 when Tim Tebow and Demaryius Thomas connected for an 80-yard touchdown to give the Broncos a 29-23 playoff victory in overtime.

"We recognize that we're different. We acknowledge that they're different offensively, obviously, not only offensively with Peyton (Manning), but defensively with (defensive coordinator Jack) Del Rio, who is very good at what he does," Tomlin said. "So we'd better remain focused on the challenges that are in front of us this weekend instead of looking back at something that happened months ago."
