I figured this would be another cool thread that we could start and discuss. Who is your favorite Steeler and why? It could be your all time favorite, current favorite, or both. My all time favorite Steeler is Jerome Bettis. When I was a kid, I was husky and I looked up to him because if a bigger person could become something of themselves, I could too. Also, I liked his playing style of running through people and having really quick feet. I'll never forget the time he ran through Brian Urlacher near Christmas time.

My current favorite player is James Harrison. He has become one of the more dominant OLBs in the NFL even with all the negative news he gets for the way he plays. He can easily get to someone even if he's being blocked by two linemen and can absolutely destroy you if no one is blocking him. He's dangerous, psychical, and intimidating which is what you want out of a defensive player. He can also make big plays when needed, just like the interception in Super Bowl XLIII.

This is a tough question because I almost always appreciate the players of the Steelers .... of course, if they are terrible, I hate this player(as Shuisan right now!)

Right now, it's probably Lamarr Woodley and Troy Polamalu

This is based mainly on personality, but also on playing style.

All-time D would be Mean Joe
All-time O would be Swann

Current D would be Keisel (I just love that guy)
Current O would be Pouncey

I gotta say Hines Ward and Jerome Bettis are evenly matched when it comes to my all time FAV STEELER player! Both of these guys just brought soooo much heart and 'definition' to what the STEELER franchise is and has always been about! Not to mention TALENT and ABILITY, both inside and outside their defined positions! LOVE LOVE LOVE me some Heinzy and Bus!!! Ugh... sure gonna miss #86 out there this year! NO DOUBT we get the job done, but that smile.... #CLASSIC!

Hines Ward is for me, been a fan since mid 80's but consider myself a die hard fan in the 90's when i watched and read everything Steelers during season and in the offseason. Hines to me describes what a Steeler is he earned a spot on speacial teams then had to work at being a WR not the fastest or maybe not a deep threat but he did alot of catching in between the hashes when WR were getting killed he didnt want to go in there, no rules to protect them then. Im not even going to bring up the tough nose blocking he had to do since early in his career they ran the ball alot. He is what best describes a Steeler

Mean Joe Greene. His drafting turned it all around for the team.

I actually have three... I know, follow the rules stupid.
1. Fanaca - Bring back the run game.
2. Bettis - No better stateman for our team!
3. Ward - A true Steeler in every way!

Hard question...I have quite a few...

Bradshaw, Swann, Ham, Lambert, Woodson, Bettis, Lipps, Foster, Ben, Ward.

If I had to pick only one, I'd have to go Ward. I might take two from each era and make a list later that way..

The best there was, ( or is ) at his position Mel Blount.
