View Full Version : Peyton Manning's plea to James Harrison

Peyton Manning remains one of the smartest quarterbacks in the NFL. If you don't believe me, check out the video when he's asked by ESPN's Tom Jackson about his confidence level in taking a hit to his surgically repaired neck.

"I have no concern over that," Manning said. "I'm not begging James Harrison to blindside me by any means but I feel I'm going to be able to handle that."

Manning and the Broncos face Harrison and the Steelers in a season-opening prime-time game Sept. 9. If Harrison didn't get Manning's gist, the $96 million quarterback mentioned Harrison a second time in the interview.

"So James, I love you and don't take this as a challenge now," Manning said, presumably only half-joking. "Go easy on me if you can."

I don't blame Manning. Harrison has just as many knockouts as Floyd Mayweather Jr. (Google Colt McCoy-James Harrison hit from last season). Perhaps Manning should tweet Harrison just to make sure he got the message.

If Harrison so much as farts in Manning's vicinity he'll probably get suspended for it. :coffee:

Peyton is pathetic, its not even pre-season and he's begging for flags already.

Of course THIS won't even draw a flag (couldn't find the "after" shot of this play where Roethlisberger was pile driven into the turf):

Did you not see our offensive line last year? Hell, the only time the Defense seen them is when they were running by them.

Should we start up the "Pay for Harrison's BS fine" jar now or after he gets near Peyton.

I like the joking around by Peyton though

without a doubt! If PM takes any kind of hit from JH, look for a 3-4 game suspension.

You don't bring up a specific defender, especially twice, unless it is in the back of your mind that you are afraid of getting hit by the guy. I think he is really worried about James getting a shot at him.

The "cloak of protection" that shielded Marsha Gaydy after her injury will be tripled-down upon by Goodell this year. Even just LOOK at Peyton wrong and you're getting a 3 game suspension.

Ahhhhh....I pine for the real NFL of my youth. The sport played by men, not girls in skirts.

I enjoy watching Peyton on SNL. Next time he is on, they should have an appearance with James.

Actually, I think he was jokng around. Sounds like James is in his head already....and he's a little nervous about getting hit especially knowing who will be hitting him.

Good.

I'm sure he is, but don't fault me for being a bit apprehensive when it comes to James Harrison and any perceived hits on all-star qb's.

You and me both...I was watching my "America's Game" DVD on the '75 Steelers and just wanted to weep at how ridiculously watered down the game has become since Good-deal has been in charge.

Fuck it. He should blast him anyway and damn the consequences. This is football, not a pillow fight.
