Free agent receiver Plaxico Burress says he’s ready to play and play well this season, but he doesn’t sound like he wants to play for the Jets again.
In an interview on ESPN First Take, Burress was asked repeatedly what he thinks of Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, and he declined repeatedly to say anything positive about Sanchez.
Asked if Sanchez is the quarterback to lead the Jets to a Super Bowl, Burress answered, “They just paid him so I think they believe he is.”
When it was pointed out that the question wasn’t whether the Jets think Sanchez can lead them to a Super Bowl but whether Burress thinks Sanchez can lead the Jets to a Super Bowl, Burress again declined to endorse Sanchez, instead praising the Jets’ defense.
“Um, I think the defense will,” Burress said. “I think they definitely have a Super Bowl defense.”

Plaxico knows nothing about Tebow. Probably less than all of us.

You think for a guy that's garnering very little interest, if any, he'd keep his mouth shut. Then again, Plaxico has never shown to be very bright.

I think hes just trying to be nice, does anyone think the jets are winning a superbowl on the arm of sanchez or tebow? I mean you have this guy being interviewed and getting asked tthese questions then we are telling him he should keep his mouth shut.

It's a simple thing like "no comment" or a statement such as "I am not going to speak about the Jets." He trashed Pittsburgh on his way out of town, now he's trashing the Jets. How do you think that's going to play out in a locker room? When you're having trouble finding a team, it's not smart to go bashing your former team. Then again, nobody has ever called Burress smart.

And he's trashing Tom Coughlin too

He bashed them by saying they have a super bowl caliber defense? If they ask him a question about sanchez and tebow and he says no comment, its the same result.

This is the first I have heard that Burress was not high on something...or hadn't shot himself.

Yeah that's Plax for you. Though I guess by definition a guy who shoots himself in a nightclub isn't going to be very smart.
