NFL teams are extremely protective of their playbooks. When you see a show like Hard Knocks and a player is about to be released by the team, the first thing they ask for is a copy of their playbook. The NFL is a highly secretive league and teams hold close to the vest things like their playbooks.

Enter DJ Williams. The Denver Broncos linebacker has been in the league for eight years so he understands the paranoia around playbooks, which is why it was so surprising to see him post this image on Twitter:

That's a picture of his playbook. He writes on Twitter:

Coach just told me I have to learn a new position over the weekn,, we have IPads as playbooks now, but I'm old skool I'm using flash cards & a #2 pencil..#ifitaintbrokedontfixit

As SB Nation's Mile High Report points out, one of the issues with moving playbooks to iPads was keeping them secure. NFL teams have done the legwork to ensure that the playbooks can't be stolen electronically.

But they can be stolen...if you post them on Twitter.

I wonder strongly if it's a smokescreen...

I dont think so, looks like its a legit playbook page, but all its showing is Formation recognition for the plays, this is so vanilla, it would be figured out very quickly in the season through film study. It will also get adjusted and readjusted during the season according to the team that they are trying to play. Dumb move, but stealing signals is worse,......oh wait... yeah.

 he is suspended for PED's, so by the time he gets in i am sure all this will have changed or as FS7 stated a big smoke screen hopefully he is not that stupid, but then again....

I find this to be extremely naive.

Same here. Now I can see Belichick drooling at the prospects.

Would do little good knowing the basic Denvver plays. Manning never runs the play, or stays in the first formation, anyways.

I'm pretty sure that's a defensive play book in the photo.

It's a defensive playbook. I know my way around a playbook

I guess that makes sense since he is a linebacker. I should have just said it doesn't matter because peyton thinks he can just ootscore everybody anyways.
