Ch-ch-ch-changes…..

If you haven’t heard by now, the 2012 edition of your Pittsburgh Steelers is going to look very different than the team you have grown accustomed to seeing running out of the Heinz Field tunnel. Besides the usual roster change-over that comes with any new NFL season, the Steelers have experienced the most significant personnel flux since the early 1990′s. Much of the core of the Steelers veteran roster – Hines Ward, Aaron Smith, James Farrior, Chris Hoke – are all either retired or released. CB William Gay departed for Pittsburgh-West and a reunion with many of his former teammates in the desert. RB Rashard Mendenhall is going to miss much of – or all – of the 2012 season. The player changes are drastic, but not the big story......

Still don't think AB84 has peaked yet, but he wouldn't be much of a surprise.

I'll pick Spence on defense to add another dimension to Lebeau's schemes.

Rainey or somebody who can pick off 4 or 5 interceptions.

I think Redman will have a breakout year making the Steelers decision to not offer Mendenhall a second contract that much easier.

I am also going to say Keenan Lewis on the defensive side of the ball, I think he'll come up with 7+ picks as a starter (I think he beats out Allen & Brown for the starting spot opposite Ike).

Yes, but I want to see what Mendy can do under Haley. I want Mendy back.

From what I saw of him last year I think Heyward could come out and light the league on fire this season.

Heyward/Rainey/McLendon would be my bets for breakout guys.

Cortez Allen or Keenan Lewis, hopefully. If I had to pick, my money would be on Allen.

Would also be nice if Rainey or Batch (Baron) emerged as at least a solid option at RB.

It seems like for every starter we lost to retirement or FA we have one or two very promising replacements.

I really feel good about this years draft, the players who are developing from the last several drafts and our prospects to be better this year than last.

Cortez Allen and Cam Heyward on defense. Emanuel Sanders on offense. I think we could have 3 wr's go for over 1000 yards. Ridiculous? In 2008 Tood Haley as the Cardinals OC had an offense that had 3 wr's go for over 1000. Fitzgerald, Bolden, and Breaston.

but that was more due to the fact that Edge James and Hightower weren't producing in the running game

I hope we don't have that issue

Not to mention behind an actual NFL-caliber OL for a change...

The whole offense changed with the OL overhaul.

I really hope your right! Very rare a rook cracks the line up on defense.

my picks are Heyward, Hood, sanders, rainey/batch

I view a "break out" season as strong high quality starter contributions to the team. With that said, ill say Redman, Ziggy Hood, Big Ben, Decastro

Defense : Brown or lewis

Offense : rainey

Offense: Sanders
Sanders is really the only primary receiver who hasn't had a break out year. However if Haley relies more on the run earlier in the season and uses the running backs more (which I like) it may lessen his opportunity.

So with an updgraded line and likely more emphasis on the run game (especially early in the year) I will go with Redman and and DeCastro who could be a pro bowler in his first year.

Defense: Lewis

I will agree....though it is possible he may not even be the starter...

ST: Rainey

Great call.

I think two guys that will jump out on offense are Manny Sanders and Baron Batch. Sanders has been hampered with injury since his rookie season. He was coming on strong as a rookie and then the broken foot happened. Next thing you know, both feet are being operated on and he just did not seem the same in 2011. I think he comes back strong. With Baron Batch, he was being raved about in camp because of his ability to work out the backfield in the passing game. He can run. He is elusive. He is also aggressive as a blocker. I think if he is recovered from his injury, he becomes a big part of our passing offense.

On defense, I would watch for Curtis Brown and Cortez Allen. I think Brown has some tools as field corner and I feel Allen has all the traits of an excellent boundary corner. I expect a lot from both of them.

I wouldn't surprise me if Ziggy Hood had a breakout season.
