He does look like he is serious about this upcoming season. Good job, Ziggy.

Wow, he's a beast. Hopefully all that work will translate on the field. I think we should have some packages that put Ziggy on the end to give Harrison's back a break late in the game. This would help preserve Harrison for longer in the season, and Hood could have free reign to pressure the QB. Imagine the pressure would could create from left to right half way into the 4th quarter with this: Woodley, Heyward, McClendon, The Beard, Hood. Could be fun to look at. Imagine the look on the opposing team's tackle when Hood begins bull rushing.

I hope it pays off on the field. Sometimes losing weight, for a DL or OL, is not always a good thing.

Did it say he lost weight? It looks like he gained muscle so he could have actually gained weight since muscle weighs more.

He lost fat but gained muscle. I read (on Steelers Depot) that his overall weight is like 2lbs more than he was before now.

well, that's sure a better answer than "sitting around smoking weed," which is half the league.

It seems to me that all the Steelers are working harder this year. I like what they're doing.

I will go out on a limb and guess that his increase in strength and speed will more than offset any detriment due to weight loss....

I can see Ziggy in the backfield already...

That's not his job, but getting Harrison or Woodley to the play is. My concern is that he eats enough once the regular season starts. Too many times I've seen guys drop weight because they can't maintain the bulk of muscle with the required nutrition.

Wow. Imagine if we could get pressure from heyward and hood. It would open so many doors!

I did not realize he only had one job.....

He (Hood) has shown the ability to be a good pass rusher in addition to the run-stopping duties that are paramount for any Steelers defensive lineman.

Over a full 16-game schedule, Hood could put up 8-10 sacks and close to 100 tackles. Would that make Ziggy Hood a breakout star in 2012?
