The NFL Players Association filed a complaint in federal court (http://images.nflplayers.com/mediaResources/files/pdf.pdf) Wednesday, accusing the league of colluding to impose a secret salary cap during the uncapped 2010 season.

The claim was filed in U.S. District Court in Minnesota, which oversees the Reggie White settlement covering NFL labor matters.

The complaint claims a ''conspiracy'' to set a $123 million salary cap for the 2010 season, when owners did not have the authority to do so. The Cowboys and Redskins have had their future salary caps lowered for overspending in 2010, Dallas by $10 million over two seasons, Washington by a whopping $36 million..............

So it is okay according to the owners to forget about the past, except when it has to do with the Saints.

Well, I'd say they have a point. What part of "no salary cap" means you can fine people for overspending? The fines themselves are pretty rock-solid proof that things were not exactly on the up-and-up.

Funniest part is how the league's wording states that the Cowboys and Redskins gained a "competitive advantage." The COWBOYS and REDSKINS. Man, I'd hate to see what a disadvantage looks like.

They didn't overspend. They abused a loophole in signing bonuses after repeatedly being warned not to. They deserve it and there's a reason why they lost their appeal.

It is still collusion, but the players signed off on it in order to implement the new CBA. The NFL feels that they are insulated because of the new contract. It seems the NFL has been ahead of the curve when it comes to labor matters, but are getting lots of negative publicity for being duplicitous.

I think you just nailed it.
