Dear god, not sure where to start uh....Batch should be able to hold it down, hell, maybe Leftwich would have time to get his 10 second release off now that we have Decastro and adams. Mundy would have to REALLY start hauling ass in place of Polamalu. He had key pass break ups in each game that he started for in place of Polamalu 2 seasons ago but im not comfortable with him. I say we'd win 3 less games at least without those 2 on the field.

Lebeau would play an extremely passive defense just as he did before when Polamalu went down.

If BR went the Steelers would comb the FA market looking for a replacement. Until then they would use Batch.

They would probably go 7-9, give or take a game

With a solid backup for Ben between 9-7 and 11-5 is still very possible.

I couldn't even see that happening.

How would they win? By playing the Redskins, the Chiefs, the Raiders, and the Browns twice. After that - "with the ninth pick of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select ..."

I'd rather not even think of that.

Sean Spence will don a wig and wear the number 43. He will also lose about 20 lbs.

We trade a 4th round pick for Colt McCoy and he leads us to our 7th Super Bowl.

Yes, these answers are about as zany as the question.

If the OL finally comes together like I think it's going to, we will actually be able to run again. That being said, we'd probably be looking at 8-8.

Which they aren't even close to having.

I believe great teams adjust and overcome adversity and I believe the Steelers ARE a GREAT team.

If you choose to believe we are doomed because we lose two players then good for you....

Not just "2 players," but 2 players who are among the best at their positions. If you think the Steelers can still have a winning record after losing the most important player on each side of the ball, then I have some beachfront property in Kathmandu I'd like to sell you.

Exactly...why the hell would someone even ask a stupid question like this...wow. If something happens to either of them we will all come back to this thread and blame who started it.

You stole my response. Sean Spence would play troys free lance role

Pick Donovan McNabb off the street and win the whole damn thing just to piss Philly off.

We didn't do to bad when Ben was out the 1st 4 games a couple years back and now we have built a better offensive front line, so Ben being out would not worry me as much as Troy.

I agree with both of those points AND Troy being a Big concern.

Here are two things to consider:

While Troy arguably turns a good defense into a great defense, if lebeau reschemed the defense to account for Troy's absence, could we not still have an above average defense with the strength of our existing personnel?

Offensively, with the upgrades on offensive line, a great receiving corps, hopefully better play calling and a quarterback that is a good game manager, would it be that difficult for us to achieve 22nd in scoring again which got us to 12-4 last year?

Maybe I am a homer on this one and would be a candidate for Malibu beach front property  but I just don't think it is impossible to have a winning season without Troy and Ben.

We would be called the Cleveland Browns. (j/k)

Hey, in 5 years this scenario could be a reality. I'm sure over the next couple drafts we will be "reloading" for Safety and QB. Talk about a change to the franchise!

2-14, first pick in the draft, probably taking a quarterback

This is the problem we have NOT a solid backup :noidea:

I think Cromartie-Smith would make a fine temporary replacement for Troy. He's an impressive kid.
