Steelers rookies learning on the fly after whirlwind week

PITTSBURGH — A week ago, Mike Adams was waiting for his phone to ring. On Friday the former Ohio State star walked onto the Pittsburgh Steelers practice field as a professional football player.
The second-round draft pick joined 39 other rookies for the start of a three-day minicamp. Adams says he missed playing football but comes into camp with low expectations. He will likely work as a backup tackle when training camp opens in July.
