Terrell Suggs has torn his Achilles working out in Arizona. Generally a year injury, likely out for season. Huge blow for Ravens

That's so sad. The Ravens are such a classy organization. This couldn't in any way be karma...

I'm with Woodley, it sucks when players get injured like this, even a division rival

playing the ravens certainly won't be the same without him, especially when he's probably the best player on their defense

Suggs would have made a good Steeler. I got to admit except for the Raven thing I like pretty much everything about him. But he is a Raven. He wasn't taken out with a cheap shot, nor is this injury life threatening, hopefully not even career ending. So I think I'll sign on to Woodley's sentiment and wish him a speedy recovery. Can't wait for the Steelers to kick his ass on the field again in 2013.

No doubt though this is a big blow for the Ravens in 2012. He's their best defensive player by far imo.

this is a huge blow that defense who alrdy lost a starting lb during Fa and with ray lewis being older than dirt.. thats 3 out of the 4 starting lb's out.. this defense could be hurting a lot and with ed reed being as old as ray ray.. shit just got real for their d.. the only hope of glimmer will be upshaw and him being a beast from day 1..

Ravens can absorb loss of Terrell Suggs

Of course Jamison Hensley's downplaying it.

I'll summarize the article for you guys:

Ravens will go 19-0 but the average margin of victory will only be 19.6 as opposed to a predicted 26.7 with Suggs.

The above was in the comments section under the column(GSAPS 2 is the poster's name)and sums it up so perfectly that I had to borrow it. :chuckle:

or that Kindle/Kruger all of the sudden emerge as nfl starters

that's three second round lbs, they gotta hit on one at some point

Yep Upshaw will be a starter this year regardless...and then the other side will be between Kruger and Kindle...their young guys gotta step up...hahaha

Latest report states it happened on Saturday during conditioning drills... partial tear and rehab will have him back by mid-season... we may see him line up against the steelers after all this year.

Didn't Suggs say on TV that he and the Ravens had a bounty on certain Steelers players? If so good for him, eat that Karma!

I only actually wish injuries on the Patriots, so it's too bad to hear about this. As others have said, even if it's a division rival, I'd rather everyone be at full strength and have a go at it, and may the best team win. Bad luck strikes at random.

We will beat them this year with or without Suggs.

I don't like hearing about players suffering an injury, even if it is one of my least favorite players in the NFL. I rather watch the Steelers shut him down than have him get injured

I never wish for an injury to another team's player, and it sucks to hear that.

But, if it HAD to happen to a linebacker of an NFL team, I'm glad it's a Raven's linebacker, as opposed to say, a Lion's linebacker.

Regardless though, gotta say good luck and hope for a full recovery.

I'd rather play Ratturds at full strength. Suggs is 30, so he ain't getting any younger. They will have to see how Upshaw does against our new OL

It's not like he was shot to death in an armed robbery or something. He's a douche, who does douchey things, and the karma came back and bit him.

Maybe it will teach him a lesson.

hmmm...well, I hate to be gleeful about other players injuries at this point....tempting bad karma and all. I don't relax about that stuff until I see our own guys get safely through training camp.

But once the season starts...

What a homer. You can make a case that Suggs is equal to Troy on the Steelers defense. If we lost our best player we would not flinch, but it would be a tough season on defense.

ShutDown24

The Ravens can't overcome this injury easily. Their other real pass rushing threats consist of Paul Kruger, Sergio Kindle and Courtney Upshaw. Kruger has been OK, Kindle has been a bust and Upshaw is a rookie.

I don't want to see injuries, even for players I dislike a lot (Sucks, Lewis, _________insert a Ratbird player name), but karma strikes the ones who deserve it, and T. Sucks is a douche :noidea:

On the other hand Harbitch will have another excuse to whine and cry.

I would rather see the Steelers beat the Rats with Shrek in the lineup, but at least I don't have to watch him put his face in the camera this year.. Those close up shots last year were enough for me to hate him..

BigNastyDefense
05-03-2012, 07:33 PM
So when the Steelers go back to regularly beating the Ratbirds this season, Harbitch will be whining about how unfair it is to have to play without Suggs due to him being out with an injury. Just another excuse for this pussy motherfucker to use when he fails to get to the Super Bowl, because it's never the other team was just better.

Suggs has had success against the Steelers, but he was never the deciding factor in games. We've beaten the Ravens plenty of times with him in the lineup. In fact, didn't Starks shut him out in the second meeting last year?

No, Suggs being out doesn't thrill me. The Ravens will still be a tough opponent, but we'll go back to owning them.

He will never be the same at his position after this injury. He may as well retire with Ray and Reed. Sometimes when you talk alot of crap it comes back to bite you.

I can actually buy this. When pass rushers fall off it seems to happen like runningbacks sometimes, they go from a stud to falling off a cliff out of nowhere. At his age, this injury will be a task for Suggs to get past as far as returning to the player he has been the past couple of seasons.

I'll say this though. The Ravens finally suffered a critical injury to a playmaker and now we'll see how they handle it. They've had great luck avoiding the "bad" injury to good player. Hensley the Homer can downplay the loss of Suggs all he wants, but it's going to be hard. Suggs, next to Ngata, are the best players on that Ravens Defense. Ray and Reed are the icons, but Suggs and Ngata are the cogs that make that Defense go.

This is true. The thing is whether players know whether they ought to retire or keep playing and make themselves look like asscans because they lost a step and can't keep up with the plays any more.

I'd still rather make myself look like an asscan for $8 million a year than sit on my ass and feel self-confident. Yeah, I really showed them.
