Falcons acquire CB Asante Samuel from Eagles

ATLANTA (AP) The Atlanta Falcons gave up only a seventh-round draft pick on Wednesday when they acquired four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel from the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Falcons announced the trade after Samuel agreed to restructure his contract to a three-year, $18.5 million deal. His contract with Philadelphia called for him to earn $9.9 million in 2012 and $11.4 million in 2013.

It's a good move for the Falcons. I don't believe they have Brent Grimes under contract yet, but when they do the combination of he, Robinson and Samuel will make for good cornerback depth.

He is worth the contract price. Would have made a good Steeler.

Wow ... where are all those who think the Steelers didn't get fair value for Santonio? You don't get much in return for trades in the NFL when it is obvious to everyone that you don't wanrt that player anymore.

Grimes just signed his franchise tag.

That's a nice stable of corners the Falcons now have. Asante Samuel should help the Falcons a lot on defense. He's a pretty good corner.
