The Oakland Raiders signed fifth-round draft pick (No. 138 overall) Walter McFadden to a four-year, $1.99 million contract on Monday.
The deal included a signing bonus of approximately $200,000 under the NFL slotting system according to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post (http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Raiders-sign-Walter-McFadden.html).
The 23-year-old cornerback played in 49 games in college at Auburn, including starting in his final 25. He recorded 87 tackles, deflected 20 passes and intercepted the ball nine times during his collegiate career.
His 265 interception return yards rank third in school history.
He is the brother of Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Bryan McFadden.
If defensive end Jay Richardson has anything to say about it, McFadden picked a good year to join the Raiders. He’s predicting big things (http://www.footballnewsnow.com/2010/10-wins-and-playoffs-for-raiders-in-2010-says-de-jay-richardson/).
