Bradford is fragile. If signed he could possibly add more career starts sometime this year. Good luck D.D.

I was really hoping we could keep Cotchery but best of luck to him and Dixon if they sign there.

Relax, they are just working out there.

Hence why I said "if" they sign there.

Did Arizona show any interest? Considering that Whis will take almost any Steeler cast off, not taking Dixon says something.

We only need to keep one back-up QB of the three. Since there will be a completely new playbook, Ben is the starter, and we have 4-5 in camp and keep the best 2 who can back him up.

Dixon?

Heh, I remember back when we drafted Dixon, a bunch of people were saying, "we should try him out at WR, wildcat, Slash II, he could do some good." Then there was a whole counter-group of people saying "NO. We drafted him to be a QUARTERBACK, nothing else. That's what they saw in him, and they drafted him as a QB; there's NO reason to do anything besides use him as a traditional backup quarterback. You don't know anything about football, I'll trust the front office on this one, etc., etc."

Well, guess the only thing that's been conclusively proven is that the latter opinion, while true, was a complete belly-flop. We'll probably never know about the first.

Why take the ball out of Ben's hands as long as he is not injured?

Same reason you'd run any kind of trick play or deception. Obviously, that's not going to be your main offense, but it sure beats all hell out of having a guy sitting on the bench holding a clipboard 97% of the time and being a below-average QB the other 3%. At any rate, it's a dead debate now, and I don't really think either side can claim anything but disappointment. If I had a point, that was probably it.

I wish the guy well, but unless something completely unexpected happens, from here it looks like his future in the NFL is about two more years' worth of fighting for the third-string job and never seeing the field. At least I haven't heard any stories about him partying 24/7 and squandering all his money.

He's been on the roster for years...I think he's cost us 1.2 million last year. He's played what, 5 quarters of football?

I wish we'd have utilized him as an athlete instead of settling for only QB. Granted, he's been worth more than, say, Limas Sweed, but what does that say?

The kid can run...we should have used him in other ways. I was literally CRUCIFIED for suggesting such (and likely will get again...but who gives a rats ass?), but it looks like there's a possibility he could be gone, and we will have ended up paying something like $500,000 per quarter of football he played.

There's been a lot of talk by the local Rams fans about Dixon and almost all of them are excited about the possibility of signing him. I told them that Steeler fans wouldn't be sad to see Dixon go and they could have him.

Dixon is a quality player who still has some potential. But for this team it's time to move on. With the caliber of starting quarterback the Steelers have, a more substantial immediate backup is needed than Dixon. And at this point he's really too old and expensive to be your developmental guy, so it's time to move on. I think he'd be a good fit in St. Louis.

My thoughts exactly. I wish we would've at least tried something like that, because we really got nothing out of our investment using him as a traditional QB. Who knows, maybe that wouldn't have worked either. But we couldn't have done much worse.

I live in Oregon and I would not mind him going to another team.. I actually would be happy to see him go.. Waste of a roster spot sice he was signed.. JMO.
