Ran across this on Sports Illustrated. The rule of 26-27-60.
Basically, the idea is you can predict with pretty decent accuracy if your QB will succeed in the NFL based on:
26 (or better) on the Wonderlic
27 (or more) starts in college
60 (or better) % completion rate in college.
Here are some of the names of people who pass: Both Manning's, Rivers, Brees, Romo, Shaub, Orton, Kolb, Ryan and Fitpatrick.
Here are some that missed at least one category: Leaf, Harrington, Vick, Akili Smith, Couch, Culpepper, Carr, Young, Russell
Roethlisberger only missed the Wonderlic by one (he scored a 25). Cutler didn't have the completion % (57%). Flacco only started 22 games.
QB's from 2010? McCoy and Bradford pass, Clausen and Tebow fail.
It ain't perfect, but it's something.
