ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the San Francisco 49ers have emerged as one of the three finalists to sign free agent quarterback Peyton Manning.

The other two teams are the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans. According to Schefter, the Arizona Cardinals “have been advised that they are to proceed as if they will not get Peyton Manning.”

We already knew the Dolphins were out.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the San Francisco 49ers have emerged as one of the three finalists to sign free agent quarterback Peyton Manning.

Peyton Manning's list trimmed to four, and Broncos are on it, sources say (http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_20166207/peyton-manning-has-broncos-among-top-two-choices?source=rss)

But there are four NFL teams that don't care how he got in this spot. The Broncos, Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals are the finalists for his services, with a decision expected to be made soon, possibly today (Wednesday, March 14).

The Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers, who never engaged in serious pursuit but were in contact with Manning's representatives during the process, no longer are candidates, according to an NFL source.

So at this point,

The Favre-ian jerking off of the media by Manning is past old at this point. :coffee:

Steve Young on ESPN on his former 49ers team: "They know they're the best answer for Peyton Manning...that's why they'll probably land him."

So Kevin Kolb is sitting in Arizona right now $7M richer. However, he's gotta feel like a girl who just got a big diamond ring from her husband as an "I am sorry for cheating on you gift." The ring is nice, but go fuck yourself.

As for Tim Tebow...he's gotta be feeling like he's sleeping on the couch while his girl is getting banged by the guy down the street, and she's being very vocal as it happens too.

It's the same old schtick. Why can't these people who are obviously at risk for even more serious injury hang it up?

If he signs with the 49ers it will definitely make that team a SB threat; unless 9ers were "Cinderella" last year and will simply get back to their normal mediocre selves this year.

I'm rooting for him to land in SF, since if he lives in my area there's a chance I'll run into him and be able to give him shit.

Like, I could go up to him and say, "How's the neck?" and then *BAP* just give him a little cheapshot backhand slap in the neck. I mean, nothing that's going to cause a real injury, just piss him off. Then repeat this probably once, until some burly guy from the security detail grabbed me by the arm and hauled me off, and then I could claim he gave me a separated shoulder and file a lawsuit even though I really hurt my shoulder the week before when I was going skiing.

Stubborn pride. Elite athletes like Peyton have it in spades.

Why risk getting re-injured? I'm sure there are plenty of TV networks who have a seat just waiting for him.

Peyton, call it a career, dude. Go out on top. It ain't worth your health or-God forbid-your life.

Steve Young: Harbaugh threw with Peyton, probably will sign him

Posted by Michael David Smith on March 17, 2012, 12:12 PM EDT

AP
Randy Moss isn’t the only aging NFL star who had a personal workout with 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh this week.

According to former 49ers quarterback Steve Young, the team quietly worked out Peyton Manning this week, and Harbaugh — who was Manning’s predecessor as the Colts’ starting quarterback — got out on the field and did some throwing with Manning. Apparently Harbaugh liked Manning’s arm better than his own, because the 49ers emerged from that workout very interested in signing Manning. And Young said on SportsCenter that he believes the 49ers have handled everything exactly the right way, starting with G.M. Trent Baalke quietly laying the groundwork, and are now the favorites to secure Manning’s services.

Eli 2, Peyton 1. No way will Peyton's ego allow this to remain.
