One day after Peyton Manning notified the Miami Dolphins they are out of the running for his services, Denver Broncos representatives boarded a flight bound for Raleigh-Durham (N.C.) International Airport on Friday morning.
NFL Network's Albert Breer reported that the Broncos' contingent chartered a private plane to meet with Manning, who is scheduled to work out at Duke University for a group led by John Elway, the team's executive vice president of football operations. Elway is joined by coach John Fox, general manager Brian Xanders, offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, quarterbacks coach Adam Gase and medical personnel.
The Broncos' plane is scheduled to land at 1:20 p.m. ET, according to Flight Tracker.

I'll hand these teams credit for at least making sure the dude still can throw and move around. I had a feeling there for awhile that some idiot GM would just sign him to a giant deal based on only Peyton's word that he's okay.

It'd be funny if they took Timmy along for the ride, without telling him what they're doing. Then if Peyton signs they could just abandon Tebow down in North Carolina. Tell him to hitch south to Jacksonville. :heh:

Why does Jax covet Tebow? The word is that since they signed Henne, they have no interest in Timmy.

Because Jacksonville is full of Florida Gator fans, so getting their hero might actually fill their stadium.

Cardinals end Peyton Manning chase
"Regarding today's developments and our quarterback position, acquiring Peyton Manning is no longer an option for us," Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said in a statement. " Since the end of last season we made it very clear that our plan was to head into 2012 with Kevin Kolb and John Skelton, let the process play out and -- like at every position -- go with the quarterback who gives us the best chance to win."

Elway: Manning 'comfortable' in workout
"We enjoyed visiting with Peyton today in N.C.," Broncos executive VP for football operations John Elway wrote Friday on Twitter. "He threw the ball great and looked very comfortable out there."
The private plane of Broncos owner Pat Bowlen left Denver en route to Raleigh-Durham on Friday morning, landing at 1:15 p.m. ET.
Among Broncos officials on board to watch Manning, according to ESPN sources, were Elway, head coach John Fox, offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, quarterback coach Adam Gase, general manager Brian Xanders and a medical team.
"Watching him throw today was the next step in this important process for our team and Peyton," Elway wrote. "It was a productive visit and went well."

Broncos meeting with Peyton Manning, offering roughly $90 million over 5 years
An NFL source said Manning and his camp have narrowed their choices to the Broncos, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers. Another NFL source said Manning is still figuring out if and when he'll throw for the Titans, but it will most likely be Saturday or Monday.
A third NFL source indicated that all involved teams are comfortable working off Manning's previous contract with the Indianapolis Colts, which was five years for $90 million, or an average of $18 million per year. Additionally, Manning was to receive $61.8 million through the first two years of his contract with the Colts.
Both the Broncos and Tennessee Titans are working off the general framework of that contract.
Manning's previous deal, which was negotiated on July 31, 2011, paid him $26.4 million last season, which he collected even though he didn't play a snap because of a neck injury.
Manning was then to receive $35.4 million this year in option bonus and salary. He was released in lieu of the Colts paying him a $28 million bonus that came due last week, voiding the contract.
The rest of contract had Manning making an $8.4 million salary in 2013, $9.4 million in 2012 and $10.4 million in 2015.

D'oh! I was rooting for the Dolphins. Peyton to Miami would be bad for the Cheats.

I was rooting for him to go to Miami, but just like Fisher, I bet Ireland and Doofhead Ross is the reason he didnt go there. I feel bad for the Phins, hope they do well with Flynn if they dont find a way to fuck that one up. At this point I wish he goes to Denver, so we can play him, and he can shut the Tim Tebow crap.

Peyton Manning tells teams he’ll decide Monday or Tuesday
Peyton Manning has told teams that he plans to make a decision on his future Monday or Tuesday, according to league sources.
Manning, who worked out for the Broncos on Friday and did the same for the 49ers earlier in the week, has told the Titans he’ll throw for them, though the site and time of that workout is unclear. Teams also are being cautious about banking on a decision happening earlier in the week, because the process already has gone so long. But that is the timeframe the free-agent QB provided.
A source said earlier Friday that the parameters of the five-year, $90 million contract that Manning signed with the Colts in August are serving as the starting point for negotiations on his next NFL deal. The contract is expected to include protections for a team in regard to his repeated neck problems, and the structure could vary from the original deal.
