Srepen Lu of the Dallas Morning News reports that, after a disappointing 2009 with the Buffalo Bills, Terrell Owens is once again looking for a team to play with. Unfortunately, his reputation in the locker room overshadows his reputation on the field.
ah Warren, writer for Off The Record , writes, “He has played with the San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills since 1996. So right there you can probably scratch off four teams from the list of potential landing spots.”The money he is asking for is way out of line for an aging receiver.
Owens wasn’t horrible for the Cowboys. In fact, he was quite the opposite. In three seasons with the Cowboys, Owens never once finished below 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. But the reason Dallas fans will never want Owens back is because of his knack to divide locker rooms.
Now Owens has come up with a novel scapegoat for his current predicament. In a recent radio interview, Owens blamed THE MEDIA for his current unemployment.
“A lot of people have listened to a lot of the commentaries throughout a lot of the media outlets, mainly ESPN, that has my character in question as far as things that have happened in the past,” Owens said. “And I think even though I may do 99 good things right and if I do one thing wrong, ESPN and the people on there is gonna make it out to be the worst thing ever.”However, as Warren points out, “He is probably half right and half wrong here. Yes, ESPN and many media outlets do spotlight him when he does something wrong, but it’s only because over the course of his career, he’s asked for it.”
Owens will probably find a home before the regular season begins. But if the past is any indication, there might soon be another team added to the list that won’t want him back.:(
