...Roethlisberger called Ward Wednesday night to thank him, and left a message on Ward’s voicemail. He said that Ward will always be a Steeler, no matter what happens in 2012...

...“Without Hines, I think you have to do everything you can to sign Jerricho back. He’s not only a veteran leader in that room but a really good player. I’d love to see him come back because he’s a really good receiver and I like what he brings to the team,” Roethlisberger said...

I would say Cotchery has more value to the Steelers than Wallace does right now.

The real off season has begun.

I'll take a receiving corps of Wallace, Brown, Sanders, Cotch and Miller at TE w/ a young Saunders.

That is if we keep Saunders after his suspension.

True. Hothead Haley probably chewed him out before he was even hired. :chuckle:

9 out of 10 we pick up at least 2 new WR's from the draft or other. Sanders' is gonna be returning kicks so we can put him in the injury pile since he gets hurt every year. Therefore, if anyone left gets so much as a sprain we'll be running short.

It's absolutely necessary to keep Cotchery at this point.

LOL, 2 years is a plausible time frame for every year? Wes Saunders gets suspended year too!

A Cotchery signing should not be all that difficult. He only had 16 catches for 237 yards and two TD's last year. There are a lot of marquee WR FA's on the market. I think signing him back is something that we can do without a ton of drama or difficulty.

Cotchery has stated that he intends to come back to the Steelers. I think they want him and I think he will.

He' going to be 30 in June. It's reasonable to expect 3-4 decent years out of him. I'd say try to lock him down for 3-4 without breaking the bank. If he has some kind of breakout season (and he could), worry about that later. If we can get even 2 years of good service from him without laying out millions, it's a win/win...

Sign Wallace, sign Cotchery...that will give a 1 & 3 for 2013 and a year to work out a deal for Brown. Bad news is that would essentially send Sanders packing in 2013...

The imminent release of Hines Ward should make re-signing Jerricho Cotchery one of the Steelers’ top priorities when it comes to their own free agents.
And Cotchery, who provides depth and experience at wide receiver, would love nothing more than to end his career with the Steelers.
“Jerricho would very much like to be back,” said Jack Scharf, who represents Cotchery.
Cotchery told the Newark Star-Ledger as much last month, and Scharf said he had “productive talks” with the Steelers at the NFL Scouting Combine.
