Can a moderator please sticky this thread, I figured it would be a good idea to make a thread to thank Hines Ward and put our favorite Hines memories in. Then maybe we can link to this on his Facebook and Twitter so he can hopefully go through them.

This is a sad day, Hines was one of my absolute favorite Steelers. That smile because he loves the game. The fact that he played wide receiver with the mentality of a middle linebacker, which was refreshing in a league filled with diva receivers like Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, and Desean Jackson. He was the epitome of what it meant to be a Pittsburgh Steeler.

Hines, Steeler Nation loves you! You're not just one of the best Steelers receivers ever, but one of the best receivers to ever grace the National Football League.

And I have two favorite Hines Ward memories. The first is when he caught the Randle El touchdown pass in Super Bowl XL and skipped into the endzone, that was classic Ward. The second was a game in Cleveland Browns Stadium in 2008 in a game with very high winds, Hines Ward caught the first touchdown of the game in the endzone that the Dawg Pound faces, and Ward celebrates by wiping his cleats in the endzone. I was laughing my ass off when I saw that.

I feel like a bit of the heart of our team is going to walk out of the door..... But, in all honesty, I would rather see Hines somewhere where he and his talents will get fair treatment in his final seasons.... It was hard watching him warming the bench this past year, and I feel that he was horribly under utilized - - sad to hang up his Black and Gold when he was not really given his earned chance to shine...

Hines, I will always remember your smile, your heart, your energy, your skill and your love for the game.... Good luck wherever you go.....

Hines, you will always be my favorite Steeler. I remember when Big Ben was a rookie and the Steelers had to play the Eagles & Cheats back to back - lmao remembering when Hines caught a TD pass and then flapped his wings at the Eagles bench. Even TO & McNabb were laughing. So many great moments - leaping into the endzone in the Super Bowl after catching ARE's TD pass - turning Ed Reed into a quivering mass on the field - those were some good times, including his DWTS victory. He showed the world that he could pop those hips and shake it with the best of the pros in that field. He masters everything that he sets out to do.

I really don't want to see him wearing another team's colors - that would be crushing - but I'll always wish him the best. Except when he plays the Steelers! I wish he would just retire and become our receivers coach. They can still benefit from his tutelage.

We love you, man :tt02:

Well Said. He's been my favorite player since he's come into the league and I'll root him on wherever he goes, but it's a sad day to see him go and not in the black and gold. One of the greatest Steelers of All-Time!!!

Not a Rome fan but love when he says he was a Linebacker who receives passes. His grittieness reminds me of Jack.

Thanks Hines for all you've done as a Steeler and in the Black/Gold uniform. Your records show your talent as a WR. I wear the No. 58 on Sundays. since he was my hero when watching the Black/Gold. My daughter has had a No. 86 jersey because of you being her hero, she is 21 yrs. old and took your release very hardly.....thinking you would always be a Steeler. It was hard for her to understand that players times do end. I want to take this time again to thank you for all you've done. Your smile will always come to mine and my daughters mind whenever we will hear your name. Good luck in all you do, hopefully you won't ever put on another teams uniform. I want to remember you as a Steeler. Thanks.

Sup Steeler Nation,

I love Hines Ward. I just wanted to thank him for all of class and dignity he has brought to the game. He is a throw-back to the 70's teams that dominated the NFL. He is tough and a true player of the game. He will be missed. Thank you for the memories Hines. Hall of Fame here he comes.
