Not sure what forum this thread belongs to, so I will post this in the Around the NFL forum as well. I was notified from a store in St. Clairsville, Ohio called Velocity that a complete line of Nike NFL 2012 will be available in April! This includes t-shirts and jerseys for men, women and children. Can't wait to see what the new Steelers and other team jerseys will look like! Here is the link to Velocity: http://www.wearvelocity.com/nike-nfl-2012

"Classic", "retro". Interesting terms for a league that is moving forward.

Maybe the Super Bowl should be the same rules as from the 70s. You know, "classic", "retro". Better than what passes as football nowadays.

I posted in the the NFL forum on this same topic.

Yes, Nike is taking over the making of the NFL uniform. But the National Football League is not the University of Oregon. The biggest difference in the uniforms is going to be the replacement of the Reebok symbol on the jerseys to the Nike Swoosh on the arms and/or chests of the jerseys.

The teams that you'll see with changes are the ones where teams have already announced new colors/logos/typeface for their teams. Otherwise, the jerseys will stay basically the same. You aren't going to see any crazy uniforms like the Oregon Ducks sport...the teams will still have full control over the look of their uniforms. Nike won't be coming in and changing anything that isn't what they were not specifically told to by the teams themselves.

You won't see the Steelers taking the field in a Nike Pro Combat uniform that looks any different from what they wore last season.

Nike's contract with the NFL is to manufacture the team's jerseys, not to design them.

I got more info and here it is- a quote from a user named Chazberg (from a thread in jerseycentral.org): "FWIW, I was talking to a guy at the local jersey shop the other day, and he mentioned that the new jerseys were going to have a slimmer fit, similar to the Edge jerseys in the NHL. This excites me, as a skinny guy. Also, I'm sure most of you have seen this, a note from a sports retailer posted over on Uni Watch:"

Quote:
Nike will be releasing three tiers of jerseys. They will be known as Game, Elite, and Pro. Their price points will be $100, $135, and $250. Game jerseys will be equivalent to what is currently called a replica. It will have all screen-printed numbers and lettering. The Elite will then move you to what is now known as premier, which will have the tackle twill lettering and numbering. This is what they are currently selling for $100 as a Pro Line jersey, which is why I have my doubts as to this being the Nike product. The Pro level will be equivalent to the current authentic level, which is going to be a close replication of what is actually worn on the field.

That totally sucks and Nike is risking a BIG backlash. I am truly disappointed about this.

100 bucks for a replica jersey??? That's insane. I bought my first jersey in 98 it was a Nike Kordell and cost me 55 at jc penny.
