Does the signing of Colon is the worst since 2000 for the steelers?

I not remember a bad signature like this, especially since the Steelers not be able to release this year.

And this signature will be even worse if the steelers are not able to keep Wallace because of the signing of Colon.

Why did you have to create a new thread even though you just posted this SAME thing in another thread?

Normally I would agree, but it's the offseason.

this!

It's been less than a year since Colon signed his contract. There's nothing preventing him from making every penny worth it

Duce was simply a duce

And he was our best O-Lineman before the injury bug struck (and before Pouncey was drafted). I know that's not saying a whole hell of a lot, but still...

I'd say Sweed.

A year after signing Sean Mahan (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4626) to help the interior of their offensive line, the Steelers decided to go a different direction by trading him back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=tam) for a seventh-round pick.

Mahan, 6-foot-3, 301 pounds, left the Bucs to sign a five-year, $17 million contract last season and started the season for Pittsburgh at center. Because the AFC North is loaded with big nose tackles in 3-4 schemes, Mahan struggled even though he started 16 games.

Oh, and after trading Mahan back to the Bucs for a 7th round pick, the Steelers drafted AQ Shipley with the pick.

When did Kordell sign his last Steelers contract?

This ^^. He makes Jon Scott look like a HOF'er

Exactly. He did ok from 2006-2009. It was the Achilles before the 2010 that did him in. I truly believe that he's just had a string of really bad luck with injuries. I think of someone like Matthew Stafford (great name) who had horrible luck his first 2 years with injuries, thus causing much concern among the Lions' faithful. I'd say he rebounded quite nicely this past year.

If he does dick this year, then I'll bring out my pitchfork out for him. It will be interesting to see what they will do with him on the field.

Not sure but Kent Graham was on the Steelers in 2000.

duce actually played GREAT the first two months of the 2004 season, until getting injured in the patriots*** game, and then he was never the same/could not get back on the field. his stats and style of play were the same as bettis' for those two months.

i'm going with jay reimersma (pass catching TE from buffalo) who caught almost no passes from tommy maddox. and for him, they let mark bruener go.

This was my original thought, but then I was reminded of Limas Sweed. At least Duce was a good model for the latest in Steeler gear on the sidelines and he had a few good runs.

Huh, heck no. Colon was pretty good his last two seasons of being healthy. For some reason people tend to forget about that and only remember him being a penalty machine all the way back in '08.

Mahan. Now that was an epic fail.

Colon is one of our better linemen when healthy. And when the team signed him to the extension they had no way of knowing he would be this plagued by injury. There a number of signings worse than this.

Mahan by a mile. I dont think you can really say a draft pick was a bad "signing" because it was a draft pick all those are risks. But an actually FA signing...Mahan all the way!

No he's not...if you think he is then wow...thats sad. I mean I dont care if you agree with me, but saying Colon is one of the worst Steelers signing/re-signings in a "very long time", is absurd. There have been numerous signed players that were worse than Colon. Colon is the 2nd/3rd best OL on the team for crying out loud. I mean if your basing it on the injury/etc....then you could say a number of guys were bad signings because they got hurt (Troy, Ben, Woodley, Harrison, and more)...injuries happen, big deal, they're part of the game, he's still a solid player though.

Almost forgot about that and to think I was excited when we signed him.

How about: Byron Leftwich. Primary backup, 0 games started, one game mopped up. 6-10 games he would have done some good as the starter, particularly to give us a chance at a playoff run this year. Can't find out how much we paid him, but probably about $3M total. For completely nothing.

I guess it's not the worst loss of money we've had, but possibly the worst in terms of we were counting on a guy to be available at a key position, and then we got left stranded.

Sean Mahan and it's not remotely close. Not even same ball park...
