The anecdote about his dad refusing to have the Post-Gazette in the house when he was working for the team was pretty funny. :chuckle:

Nothing definitive about him playcalling from the sideline or the booth.

Maybe from the booth. Otherwise, you might have a Kevin Gilbride/Buddy Ryan lovefest. :chuckle:

Funniest thing he said.

He was offered the WRs job in 2004 but turned it down. If he gets hired, Arians doesn't get the job. Who knows what conversation we're having right now.

So we can blame Haley for Arians' ascension to Steelers' OC? :chuckle:

Yes.

So those who wanted to fire Arians should want Haley fired.

Bubble screens ... He didn't say how many bubble screens he was going to call during a game.

I don't trust him until he answers that question.

Blasphemy, all heresay. Do we really believe that Cowher offered Haley a WR job and Arians was the 2nd choice?? I find it hard to believe that Arians wasnt recognized for his genius right away.

I think he misremembered and wont believe it until a credible source says Haley was offered the WR job in 2004 over Arians.

I like this line:

"you do what gives you the best chance to succeed, if your best chance to succeed is to run the ball 63 times a game, then run the ball 63 times a game"

I think Haley's equivalent is the sprint draw. Just watch when the Steelers RB gets tackled in the backfield for a 3 yard loss. This board is gonna go nuts. Will be fun to watch. :)

No way. It's better to go without a game plan. Just throw a few plays in a bag...and viola! You will then have an instant red-zone juggernaut.

:nono: Remember, Haley started out w/the Jets at the same time of Ron Erhardt so he knows the shotgun draw well. Get the popcorn ready as the board explodes when Haley screws up in preseason. The pitchforks will be sold out in Steeler Nation. :chuckle:

Sweet!

Not exactly 6 yards every time. 44% of the time it was thrown, it didnt went for 3 yards or less.

on 3rd and 8!

It was 3rd and 7 and only went for 2 yards in the playoff game vs. Denver. That is the only time they threw the bubble screen on 3rd down in the season.

that's seriously hilarious...question...in regards to the 'bubble screen' is the Bubble Screen when we have more than 1 receiver on a side, usually 3, and two are actively blocking down field at the same time the ball is caught? Or do the quick Throw Out to the open receiver when the D-back is off the line of scrimmage passes count in the numbers for the "bubble screens"...I'm curious...

I plan on doing my Redzone Breakdown this weekend with the help of Chidi, boring by the numbers thread that he and I will probably be the only ones talking in, but I had joked about watching all the bubble screens as well...I was wondering...what actually counts as a Bubble Screen? Is it a Trips to one Side, or Two Receivers to one side? Or does the quick pop up and throw out to Wallace all alone on the one side count for the Bubble Screen numbers?

That's a serious question, not trying to be a jerk about it. I am curious what counts in the great "bubble screen" debate.

Wiz didn't dump him. He left the Cardinals to go to KC in 2009. I guess we could thank the Chiefs for dumping him if he pans out.

I remember the bubble screen to Wallace NOT working all the way into the endzone.

Bubble screen is the new Sean Mahan.

Was just watching the SuperBowl XIII hi lites between the Cowboys and the Steelers. The 75 Yard touchdown catch and run by John Stallworth sure looked like a bubble screen. Grossman and Swann out in front to do the blocking. This TD tied the score at 14 in the second quarter.

Bubble screens have their place, get over it people.

Exactly, if it weren't for the bubble screen, Ward would only have 997 receptions.
