Tiquan Underwood, the guy who loved being a Patriot so much that he did that (http://media.zenfs.com/en/blogs/sptusnflexperts/Tiquan-Underwood-in-happier-days.jpg) to his hair, was released by the team on Saturday, just hours before the Super Bowl.

It's callous and it's cold-blooded, but that's football, and that's Bill Belichick. I'm sure that Underwood is emotionally devastated, but that's a head coach's job. If he feels like another player might help a little more on Sunday, even if it's just for one play, then it's the coach's job to make that decision. Feelings aren't a part of it.

Underwood probably didn't expect this, but he's no stranger to being released, either. It's the third time the Patriots have cut him this season.

Leave it to the Patriots* to release a player right before the Super Bowl.

Football isn't about feelings. Week 1 or the day before the Super Bowl, it doesn't matter. You're a head coach to give your team the best chance to win, not make sure a guy feels good.

He gets a ring if they win anyway. Plus he likely wouldn't have even played/being active

and what a stupid haircut

No, football isn't about feelings but this sure makes the Cheatriots look classless.

While all of this is true, it doesn't seem as though there was some sudden midnight urgent need for an added DE on the roster, ie. injury report update.
So it smells more like I need this extra DE but I'm gonna hold my cards as long as I can, which sucks for this WR. After having tickets for his family struggling to pay their way to the game , only to find out he's not gonna see the field .

If there were any justice in the world they would have cut STINKO and saved the kid, at least the kid makes a contribution on STs. What's Ocho got 2 catches this season? I figure he has inside info on the cheating , by Billicheat previous standards this guy would have been cut weeks and months ago

I don't think that is true, because of the late cut he won't clear waivers till after the game so he is not on the practice Squad or active roster, sort of in limbo.

Lol a Jersey guy being cut by the Patriots on the Super Bowl Eve. One more reason to hate the Patriots.

Expect him to be a big part of the offense. The forgotten WR.

A lot of people seem to think Chad is going to have this huge game. It could happen, but if he is able to have such an impact on the offensive performance he should have already been seeing more PT. I don't think it's going to happen.

True enough Chidi but it's still another classless act by belicheat. I personally hope somehow it comes back to bite them in the ass.

Is another player so important to your team at the #53 roster spot that it warrants cutting a guy the day before the SB? Of course, we don't know if the guy did something to piss off the coach like missing curfew.

The sports media will be in official mourning for the next thirty days. In other news John Harbaugh was spotted near the Giants gatorade barrel dressed like Tom Coughlin........and finally Goodell will fine James Harrison because the cheats lost.

I was under the impression that the roster was locked already and the only things you could do was make someone active, inactive, or cut them. I wasn't aware you could sign a player off of the streets the night before the Super Bowl.
