Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians still intends to retire, league sources said Monday, but he has been in contact with teams about possible coaching positions.

The Arizona Cardinals had discussions with Arians about their vacant quarterbacks coach job, sources said. Arians has deep ties to coach Ken Whisenhunt and assistant coach Russ Grimm from their days together in Pittsburgh.

I guess the retirement story was bogus. Or just retiring from the OC position? Hmmmm?

He retired because his contract wasn't renewed.

And the language is vague here...."In contact with" simply means that there was contact. I'm guessing it was initiated by them, not him.

You are probably correct. He's gotten 5 or 6 offers according to the York article. Those are teams coming to him.

Arians is a borderline idiot. Who would want to hire him???????

He might be good as a QB coach for 2 years. He should stay retired because he doesn't need the headaches.

Can't remember which announcer of one of our last games was praising Arians and said he is head coach worthy. Nay, can't see that happening.

i think there is always going to be contact w, a steeler player or coach that has been cut, or a Fa by the cardinals until they get rid of ken.. its ike a given fact, like we all know the sun will come up tom.... but bruce baby is pretty old anyway, so i doubt he has many long term contracts out there

Kinda reminds me of Tuna...every team he went to he brought in his old has beens. That's why I loved seeing him coach the boys and bring in interceptaverdi.

How is other teams contacting him proof that he isn't retiring?

Contacting is not proof. If he takes one of the positions, well...

Maybe he is the Brett Favre of coaches.

Jim Nantz I think said that. I wonder how many teams asked the Steelers for permission to speak with Arians about their head coaching vacancy? Will be interesting to see where he goes and if he goes as QB coach, OC, WR coach, etc??

Or, you know, just retires like he said.

Why does everything have to be a conspiracy theory?
