View Full Version : Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco still is NFL’s Rodney Dangerfield

BALTIMORE — Joe Flacco was sort of kidding, but also sort of being honest last week when he told reporters, "I’m sure if we win (the Super Bowl), I’ll have nothing to do with why we won, according to you guys."

In case you haven’t noticed, the fourth-year Ravens quarterback is going through the Rodney Dangerfield phase of his career. He seems to think he’s not getting enough respect.

Not from his team, which has been dragging its feet on a contract extension.

Not from the media, which has seen fit to dwell on his middle-of-the-NFL pack 80.9 passer rating this season and career-low .576 completion percentage.

Really? 14-27 yesterday, won only because his defense forced 4 turnovers. Led an offense that scored 3 points in the final 3 quarters? Flacco is pampered by his defense and RB and if he was on a bad team, he would be widely considered a terrible quarterback

I kinda hope the Ravens do make it from the AFC side, only to lose 2-0 to the Giants. That would fly in the face of everything Goodell has so obviously tried to turn the NFL into.

Flacco doesn't get respect because he's not the cornerstone of the Offense. It's run on Ray Rice. And right now Rice is one of the best all-purpose RB's in the game and playing better than anyone has ever seen. All Flacco can be asked to do is not fuck it up.

Isn't it interesting how both times Ray Rice carried the ball less than 10 times and the game was put squarely in Slacco's hands the Ravens lost to teams with losing record. What has he done this year other than disect a prevent defense (something any quarterback can do).

Flacco gets exactly the respect he deserves.

As far as I know, Rodney Dangerfield didn't win any Super Bowls either, so this should come as a surprise to no one.
