Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher says he is not ready to return to coaching, despite receiving multiple overtures from teams.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever been that ready, honestly,” Cowher said during a Thursday appearance on the “The Dan Patrick Show.” “Let me tell you, if there’s any doubt, then there’s no doubt you’re not ready to come back. You have to be all in to take that job.

I bet most of those offers were from train wreck teams who are just looking to score a big coaching name.

He's just waiting for the Giants once Coughlin is gone. Of course, if they win another SB, the Coughlin haters will be all jumping off a cliff. :chuckle:

I think he's waiting for a good job to open up. I can see him going to two teams.
New York Giants: His daughter goes to Princeton, which is in New Jersey. They are a pretty damn stacked team. The only thing is Cowher likes the 3-4 defense, and they run the 4-3, but I think Cowher would be able to change it and the team would barely skip a beat.
San Diego Chargers: There is a lot of talent on this team, but they have Norv Turner as the head coach, so that cancels out the talent. Cowher comes in, and I would expect this team to win their division....which shouldn't be hard.

Yeah, I agree he's waiting for choice pickings. His name is golden for at least a few more years and there's probably going to be a few more choice opportunities opening up by then.

IF Tomlin ever got removed/quit from the Steelers, would Cowher come home?

I believe Cowher would return to the Steelers in a heartbeat. In fact, I've been wondering the past couple of years - with him not accepting any of these job offers, or seemingly even considering any of them - do you think Coach Cowher regrets leaving the Steelers? It is an interesting thought. I can't see him agreeing to coach any team other than the Giants or Steelers at this point.

Like Cowher said, you have to be "all in" to coach. Maybe he won't be since he lost his wife. A loss like that takes a serious toll.

Translation: No one has offered him 9 million a year and control over the draft.

Did Cowher and Art II get along?

If and it's a big IF, Cowher returns to the sideline, it won't be to rebuild a team. It will be a "winning" situation...he ain't taking no shit job...no matter how much money or titles.
