Just when it felt like Steeler Nation (http://steelersbars.com/) hit rock bottom, the Steelers woke up this morning and made a team effort to pull everyone back up.

Several of the players were chatting it up in full-force on Facebook and Twitter, especially Antonio Brown (http://boringpittsburgh.com/tag/antonio-brown). It was great to see these guys interacting directly with some of their fans.

When First Down Brown and Wes Saunders tweeted an open invitation for everyone to meet them for dinner, a lot of their followers probably didn’t take it seriously. After all, some celebrities tweet stuff because they feel obligated (or they just have someone else do it for them). But when #84 welcomed the world to share a meal with him at the high class Capital Grille (http://www.thecapitalgrille.com/Locations/Pittsburgh/Main.asp?rid=8031&Location=Pittsburgh) in Downtown Pittsburgh, he meant it...........

I love it when players do this stuff. It takes them from celebrity status to real people status and that's awesome. Giving credit where credit is due, Chad used to do this all the time in Cinci. He's treat 100 people to a movie at Newport on the Levee or once he did dinner at Bucci de Beppo. Trash on the field, but a good guy off it.

That's really cool and, something you don't see with players these days.

Brown is one of the few who showed up to play. What a waste of talent in that game. Back in 1976 you NEVER saw that lack of effort even when Terry, Rocky and Franco went down at the end.

Brown's (Ben, Miller & Redman too) effort all season puts him in the same class as the 1976 team.

Good for him! makes me less worried about an attitude problem growing

now if he would just stop with the dropping the ball and pointing thing by September....

Very nice thing for him to do.

But I don't like players to make a habit of it. They're only in the NFL and making the big money for so long and they get rooked on taxes because they're "rich". And Antonio can't be set for life as a day three draft pick on his first contract.

He should do some safe, wise financial planning, get vested in the pension system, and then take large groups of fans to dinner.

I love Antonio Brown. He seems like one of the better guys to come through this city in years, and that is really saying something.
