Losing Moore was a pretty significant blow IMHO. He has great hands that gave Ben a great option coming out of the back field.

Can any of these new young buck RBs CATCH the ball ?

How many catches did moore even have this year? I don't think it was Moore's fault he didn't catch any passes. It's either Ben is too concentrated down the field and if the play breaks down, he looks to scramble rather than check it down. Or the offense doesn't call for many swing passes/check downs.

Isaac Redman is ok with catching the ball. He had the game winning TD pass last year against the Ravens after Troy's sack/fumble.

Spann can catch. I watched him play at Northern Illinois. He's a little dude, like Darren Sproles or Dave Meggett. He could contribute if pressed into action, simply because he is SO different from anything we've had in the backfield in years...

Don't know much about the kid except his size. I very much doubt he'll ever be in on third down because you need a back in there who can be trusted to block. Perhaps he could be in on 1st or 2nd down play action situations and be a check down option.

The value with Moore is that he can both block and catch. With him and Mendy hurt I guess you have to have Redman in on third downs.

Spann is 5'7" in heels. That kind of guy has value because the defense can literally lose sight of him behind the OL.

I dunno about catch, but I seriously hope they can protect Ben. Mendy has been excellent at it lately

hmm, could have the effect James Starks had for the packers last year....

Ray Rice is 5'8 as well, Height as a running back inst much of a factor.

Mendy could catch. I've never been a big Mendelhall fan, but he could catch much better than He Who was Fast but could Not Catch.

Moore wasn't playing all that well this season. If we can use our TEs as relieve valves, I think we'll be alright.

Based upon what I have seen of Mendenhall, he can catch. He just doesn't get that many opportunities to do so.

We can use Johnson, he's an "hybrid" FB/TE after all :noidea:

Did they move Spann up from the PS?

Never mind I just saw him on the roster

Throwing the ball hasnt been an important part of our offense since forever. It really wont matter, but Redman is a pretty good all purpose back.

I Wonder whos hands were worse , Willie Parkers or Sweeds

Looking at the stats for this year, Redman had as many receptions as Mendy (18) while not being on the field as often, so it seems that Ben is comfortable dumping it off to him. Moore only had 11 catches but obviously he's been hurt.

Anyway, I like the idea of using Spann as a change-of-pace back. Hopefully we can work in 5 touches for him this week...anything that Denver can't gameplan for is a bonus.

They'll just stack the box since Ben can't pass.
