Though it's up for debate just how much credit Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos' pseudo-option offense deserves for the team's surprise playoff run, there's no doubt that the beguiling nature of the scheme helped in some way to propel Denver to the AFC West championship. Few NFL teams feature offensive players that ran the option in college, but in an interesting twist in the AFC Wild Card match up between the Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh may have one of the closet things to Tebow on an NFL roster.

Mike Tomlin said Dennis Dixon will be playing the Tebow role in practice this wk. Said his D has plenty of exp practicing vs option

HAHAHAHA. Similar Offense, good to have that twig as our 3rd stringer.

They both suck as a true QB so I guess it's a good warm up.

They're going to have to make Ben the QB when they simulate the fourth quarter.

Who knew having a crappy QB who can kind of run but can't throw would come in handy in preparing for the playoffs?

Of course, who knew having a crappy QB who can kind of run but can't throw would get you to the playoffs in the first place.

It's actually more of a challenge for a DC to dig out his 1989 playbook because he hasn't seen anything as obsolete as Denver's High School offense since then. But LeBeau ain't no spring chicken...he'll be more than ready.

Are the coaches going to allow the defense to knock Dixon's head off when he tries to run over the LOS?

I hope so; if one of them succeeds in knocking it off, that would lend some urgency to searching for a legitimate backup QB.

I'm confused. Wasn't Dixon on IR earlier in the year?

More like his 55 playbook. They haven't played single wing in the NFL since the mid 50's.

No, unfortunately he just plays like he is...

Dixon is way too good of a thrower to be emulating Tebow at practice!
