That is a shame for the secondary, but with Troy back there (or wherever the hell he'll end up) against a sub par QB and WR's I don't see this killing us in the secondary.

Mundy is starting in his place, we'll be safe.

Clark will be missed but I like Mundy back there.

Mundy is a starter in this league, we'll see very little drop off if any with him starting over Clark.

Wise decision, according to this post from Dr. Naland Shenoy on our Facebook page:

"Im an MD but not a Hematologist. The time he was so sick. He had a sequestration crisis. He no longer has a spleen so he should be fine from that standpoint and thats what the team doctors said previously. But his cells can still sickle at lower oxygen tension like Denver, and the sickled cells can "block" small vessels, unlike normal red blood cells, so theoretically he can still have micro infarcts and those are like mini strokes or heart attacks or more simply put - lack of blood flow and thus oxygen and vital nutrients to the cells or organ affected and that I would suspect is the concern. There may be ways like hydroxyurea, a medicine, or oxygen, to try to prevent that and it starts to get beyond me here, a hematologist might be able to better comment on how to prevent or IF you CAN prevent this."

Thank you, Dr. Shenoy, for your professional opinion!

Wise decision. I trust Mundy enough back there.

I think this means Troy will have less "free lancing" ability since they will want him back there to protect against any Mundy inexperience.

Of coarse, as long as Farrior, Timmons, Harrison, and Woodley are the starting Linebackers we should be just fine up front with pressure on Tebow and his pathetic offense.

We'll miss him there to be sure, but I'm glad they've decided not to take a gamble like that. Clark's overall health is more important.

While it sucks he wont play as Clark as had a hell of a year...if the Dr's feel its for the best then I'm fine with it. Mundy is a solid player and he will do fine back there for this game.

From a football standpoint it sucks, but it was the absolute right thing to do. Good call coach! :applaudit:

Ryan's life is what's important here. Good call.

Even though Tomlin did this with no ulterior motives, in the long run this will further increase his standing with his players. Which was already very high from all accounts. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to single anyone out by name, but I think there's more than a few coaches who would have put the decision in Clark's hand's, which imo would have been totally unfair.

I knew this all along.. He can't play in Denver... What a home field advantage they have...

We'll be fine. Our run defense is much more important than our secondary in this game.

"I talked to my doctors and we actually had a plan in place for me to play. All things pointed to me going until (Mike Tomlin) told me I can't. He said he wouldn't have let his son play and so I'm not playing either.”

This is probably the right call. Thankfully we're not playing a team with a passing game, so Troy can still be Troy and our front seven will be what determines the game, not our secondary.

Right call, Coach. Ryan will be back to face the Pats/Rats the next week.

Sometimes a guy gets hurt on a team you loathe and you think, "Well, that's a stroke of luck for our side." In this case, it really sucks. It must blow to feel perfectly fine, but you can't play in one stadium as you may be risking your life.

I feel bad for Clark. But it is the right call.

I heard Clarks interview on KDKA today and he seemed upset that he wasn't playing today which I understand. He stated that he spoke to his doctor and both agreed he could play, but I mean when it's your life on the line the #1 priority is what's right and wrong.
