Turner era coming to close as many predicted it would

OAKLAND — It began with a collective “Huh?!” and will end with a resounding “Finally!!”

The era that was never expected to have a chance will come to a close Sunday in Oakland.

Norv Turner, the man whose winning percentage is tied as the highest among the 14 head coaches the Chargers have ever employed, is all but certain to be fired next week.

Even as he has done a remarkable not allowing it to show, Turner knows it.

Will the chorus of "Fire Arians, hire Turner!" now begin?

Sad to see someone like Turner have a season like he did.

Turner and Schottenheimer. Two good HC's who always seem to hit "that wall" and go no further.

At Least Marty was that lovable loser. Norv basically took over Marty project and he did NOTHING.

If Arians retires, then hell yes, the Steelers should hire Turner. The man has a brilliant offensive mind...he's just not HC material.

If Bruce retires this year, it won't be until after we are finished in the playoffs, and someone is going to nab Norv before that.

Marty could at least win in the regular season. He usually had good teams. He just couldn't win in the post season. Norv just isn't a good head coach period. If you can't win with the team that he was given then you should never be a head coach again.

I agree 100%. Marty just blew it in post-season games, although, to be honest, a couple of those Browns losses in the playoffs were totally out of his control. Norv just doesn't have what it takes to be a HC. Owners should recognize that by now.

Yes please!!!!!

Norv's an offensive genius and maybe one of the best offensive coordinator's of the past 25 years. He just makes one awful, awful head coach.

Does he let the qb check out of a run play into a passing play on 3rd and 2 with 1:40 left in the game and the other team has no timeouts?

And if it works, they're both geniuses.

Ben has certainly earned the full confidence of the coaching staff. Yes, sometimes it doesn't work out, but he's your franchise $100 million QB, you better let him have that ability. Because it's worked a hundred times before.
