Interesting. I didn't even know about this game. Or that the 49ers went 18-1 that season.

Steelers only had Stallworth and Lambert on that team. So, they were never in the limelight. However, when Miami beat Chicago in 85, they had a superstar QB Marino and they beat the Bears on Monday night. Also, it was Miami's perfect record that Chicago was trying to break so they had a lot of hype in that game. It was a huge MNF game. The niners/steelers game was just another sunday game and the niners were 6-0 so the hype was not there.

And remember, Lambert was sidelined most of that season with turf toe.

I know I've mentioned it before, but I was at this game; it was the second football game I'd been to at any level. I swear that missed field goal at the end was even closer than the article made it sound - it didn't just miss, it hit the upright.

Although the story made me doubt that a little, think maybe there was a second missed FG not long before. But no, only 1 missed FG in the box score. And the only other football game I'd been to at that point, the 49ers-Vikings game in 1983, there were no missed field goals.

Anyway, this is still one of the best football games I have ever seen. I remember it like it was yesterday.
