Seems awfully quick. Doesn't it normally take at least a week for the appeal to be heard after the fine/suspension is given? Sounds to me like they really want him out for the SF game.

His agent/etc submitted for an expedited appeal so that he could possibly play in the SF game (the agent/James/etc know its a big game and he wants to be there). I do not know the normal time frame...it just depends on how its submitted/etc I guess.

I see appeals from other players all the time and their punishment is always put 'on hold' until the appeal is heard. Usually that amounts to them being able to play the next week.

Not a chance they let that happen in this case. They locked in and put the blinders on a long time ago, and now they have to prove a point. They probably had the rejection letter already written before they heard the appeal at all.

Better yet, I think they need to make another rule change so that roughing the passer can only be called when the QB is wearing white armbands that say "PUSSY" in 6-inch high black letters, and also a Miss America winner's-style sash that says "BIGGEST PUSSY."

That is what I was thinking. If they were to over turn it, they would want to make sure he was out of practice as long as possible , sort of a secondary punishment. If nothing else it at least give the impression of actually considering it. I personally feel that if it is debatable you don't suspend. Suspensions are to be used in obvious blatant situations. And to use minor no head hits against Brees and Fitzpatrick as history is week. Even many of the talking heads that agree with the punishment say it is debatable which means , not sure to me.

4 minutes ago - by Dale Grdnic - Clark talks about James Harrison's style of play (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/nfl/rapid-reports/post/16483275)
Safety Ryan Clark (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rapid-reports/player/303349/ryan-clark) on James Harrison's aggressive style of play: "The league is trying to make players that play with a physical nature extinct. They want everybody to average 35 points a game, [but] defense still matters to us. [And] we have to find a way within the rules to do it because we want our best 11 out there.''

"I'm watching ESPN, and they're talking and my name gets thrown into that,'' Clark said. "I focus on making plays for this football team and winning football games. That's my No. 1 priority.''

If in the last game of the year, we know that we'll be playing the first playoff game in Denver, it would be awesome if Clark laid someone out and got suspended for the Denver game since he can't play there anyway.

Art Shell and Ted Cotrelll. The committee was created jointly by the NFLPA and the league. Goodell is not in control of the rulings and there have been multiple instances of fines levied by the league being reduced or in even two cases that I know of, the fine being completely wiped out.

No offense, but you've got to be pretty naive if you think Goodell doesn't have a hand in it. Or that either of his henchmen would just say, "You know what, even though it's never been done before, I think we'll just go ahead and suspend this guy and have it come as a complete surprise to the commissioner." They got his OK on every detail. It's not some blind altruistic process; the shithead has his hand in every cookie jar and wouldn't be the least bit ashamed to say so.

Problem with Harrison is that because he refuses to change his play, he could be suspended multiple games and possibly cause the team to be fined or lose draft picks according to an interview with Tom Donahoe on 93.7 this am.

I love Deebo as a player, but if he begins hurting the team in other ways, I wonder how long the Rooney's will put up with him.

I think Rooney would go after Goodell with everything he's got if they try to take a draft pick from the Steelers over a non premeditated football play. He's played the good soldier to this point, but that would be the straw that broke the camel's back imo.

After Harrison decides he's had enough and retires I hope he retains legal counsel with the thought of suing Goodell and the league for lost wages.
