Very interesting blog about how the NFL is profiting off of Pics of Ben being hurt and McCoy moments after Harrison rung his bell. This is the type of hypocrisy that has me seriously considering not watching another NFL game again.

I'm sure the apologists will come along and say "but the NFL has a 3rd party vendor that posts those pics and they have no control!" which is what the excuse was last year in a very similar thread to this one when they put a picture of Harrison's hit on Massaquoi up for sale that was also quickly yanked. To that, I say BULLSHIT. The richest sports league on the goddamn planet has enough resources at its disposal to make sure they don't get posted in the first place.

I'd also still like to see any images anyone can find of the the Gocong hits. In my estimation, two 235 lb men smashing into each other helmets first at 30 MPH MIGHT be a little more dangerous than what Harrison did...

After seeing the hit, I think Harrison needs to go for the body. Why did he even go for the head anyway? Would it not have been just as easy to put his shoulder into McCoy's chest / stomach? Or was he going high for the chance to get to the ball?

Harrison needs to change his style. You can still hit hard and not hit the head.

He'll get nailed for that too. Does "putting too much of his weight into the tackle" ring a bell? As Zu very correctly pointed out in another thread, Harrison is a marked man and will have to play the rest of his career on eggshells because of it.

i think it is mccoys fault as much as harrisons he was aiming for the chest area and mccoy start in the oh shit fetal position before the hit.

Antonio Brown was the victim of a helmet to helmet, launch type hit, by #28 of the Browns on the first play of the fourth quarter. That one was illegal, but uncalled and unnoticed by all but me it seems.

That's a great tackling technique, grab under the helmet edges and just yank, pretty simple. And no fines or penalties, YAY! BTW, what ever happened to teh new "whistle as soon as a helmet comes off" I havn't seen/heard that lately

Very disappointed in the NFL for this. And you definitely can't make the argument that the league really isn't focusing on regulating these things because it's just a website since they've already come out and said this wouldn't happen again.

I'm sure the league will sweep this under the rug, have no comment on it.

And then it'll happen again next year.

I know I'm the "apologist" around here (something I don't agree with but that's another discussion) but I've always said the NFL needs to be consistent. They definitely missed the boat here.

See that really drives me crazy as well because, helmet to helmet only applies to some Qb's & Wr's. The new NFL sucks as far as I'm concerned.

McCoy photo prompts NFL to change procedures for selling game pictures

Last year, after a rash of helmet-to-helmet hits prompted the NFL to pay closer attention to the issue via more aggressive rules enforcement, the NFL also was selling photos of some of the helmet-to-helmet hits. Once made aware of the situation, the NFL asked the third party responsible for managing the league’s photo store to remove the images.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/17/mccoy-photo-prompts-nfl-to-change-procedures-for-selling-game-pictures/ (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/17/mccoy-photo-prompts-nfl-to-change-procedures-for-selling-game-pictures/)

Hmmm....if they're really serious about not profitting from this, then maybe they'll take the money earned from selling all of the offending photos and either refund it or donate it somewhere.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....yeah right.

and I'm sure the same story will more than likely come out next year when the same thing happens AGAIN.

How is it that a bunch folks on the internet can find a picture like the McCoy hit, etc. well before some representatives from a multi-BILLION$ corporation(NFL)? What a load of shit.
