View Full Version : What's up with Wallace??

Last night, he dropped what seemed like a routine TD catch in the back of the endzone. He also dropped that bomb from Ben that probably would have gone for a TD as well - obviously a much more difficult catch than the first, but nevertheless a catch that we are accustomed to him making.

He's been pretty much invisible since the Arizona game. I guess it's a slump? I can't think of any other logical explanation.

Thankfully, Brown's been extraordinary. The kid is something special. I kind of scoffed when some people were saying he's better than Wallace, but now I'm thinking it's not as absurd as it sounds given that it's only Brown's 2nd year in the league.

I think its just one more learning curve hes gotta become adjusted to. Hes no longer a Secret in the NFL , hes being bracketed and double covered and I think that gets into his head and maybe overthinks things and tries too hard. Hell be alright I think Arians has also to move him into a slot and make him work on the short patterns.

what ever caused the shenanigans (as coach T called them) during warm ups might have thrown him off and he was playing with too much emotion? plus maybe his head was getting to big for his helmet and a lack of concentration? but i am not worried i am sure he will return to form

I think you're on to something here. I think the Chiefs might have heard Wallace is thin skinned and intentionally went about getting into his head and getting him off his game.

Arians made him drop the passes.

It happens. I would rather he gets the drops out of his system now and starts catching everything down the stretch in to the playoffs..

Wallace is lucky he didn't get ejected pre-game. He threw a shot to the dude's face. Inexcusably stupid.

He needs to ditch Kemo as his mentor.:wink02:

I think the pre-game push around motivated KC more then they were and got inside Mikey's head a little bit.

Wallace's ego (he's "supposed" to have self-motivation as a premier wide-out in the NFL) isn't gonna let him have another bad game for a long time... bank on it.

Let's hope so.

The best WR last night was Hines Ward. He caught everything thrown at him. That's veteran play vs. new guy stuff.

Hines looked *really* slow out there.

that might be true, but he caught everything thrown his way and as always found those little holes in the zone coverage.

You don't always have to be super fast. Just ask Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez. I know i'm comparing Hines to tight ends but still.

Hines himself says he never was fast... Getting open and being fast are two different things.

Jim Zorn made his whole quarterbacking career throwing to another "slow" wide receiver named Steve Largent (8 time pro-bowler) Largent and Ward both know how to use their brains, run accurate patterns and adjust to defenses to find ways to get open. I don't think Largent could outrun ME let alone most DB's but he still managed to catch over 800 balls on a lame team.

The Steelers are 8-3

ARIANS is 19th in scoring.

Surely we are not gong to throw Wallace to the dogs over one bad game. It happens to everyone in the nfl and Wallace is no exception

Wallace has been overshadowed by Brown for sure. Could be the double on Wallace is what opens up Brown.
