Another starting quarterback went down — Chicago lost Jay Cutler to a broken thumb — and the Philadelphia Eagles authored another chapter in their mystery story by beating the New York Giants in the Meadowlands.
At least one thing did not change in the NFL after this weekend: The status of Steelers outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley.

"Day to day," he said Monday.

Woodley, who is among the NFL leaders with nine sacks, has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury. The fifth-year veteran won't play Sunday night in Kansas City unless he makes significant progress this week.
Woodley said he practiced on a limited basis Monday, doing "a few things" with the first-team defense before working out on his own.

Less encouraging for the Steelers is how Woodley sounded after the team's first practice following the bye week. Woodley talked in increments rather than significant steps in regard to what could now be the most followed comeback story in Pittsburgh.............

I hope he's back for the Cinci game. I don't want Raggedy Andy to know what hit him after the third or fourth time he's sacked by Lamarr or James.

If you can't stop Palko and the Chiefs without Woodley, then you're really not any good anyway.

Keep Woods inactive for one more week, and hopefully he'll be ready to go full bore for the Bengals game in Pittsburgh.

It may be best to rest him for one more week. No point in rushing it and then not being able to play in the playoffs.

I'm with Zu...it's Tyler freaking Palko. They only managed a meager 3 points off New England's terrible defense...

Hey!! That's our former backup QB you're talkin' about!

Pittsburgh SteelersPalko was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad on November 25, 2009 after quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/wiki/Ben_Roethlisberger) and Charlie Batch (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/wiki/Charlie_Batch) were injured. He was promoted to the active roster on November 28 when Roethlisberger was declared inactive for the team's November 29 game against the Baltimore Ravens (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/wiki/Baltimore_Ravens). Palko was named the back-up quarterback behind Dennis Dixon (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/wiki/Dennis_Dixon). He was released on December 9, 2009.

Unlike with the Ben injury thread, I agree with you here. A hammy is the type of injury that shouldn't be rushed back if it is not healed completely. We've seen this type of thing with Troy and it hurt us the rest of year.

Sit out another game big-guy. Not to overlook the Palko-lead chiefs, but I feel like our boys will be just fine in this one.

Sit out until you are completely healed. The Steelers will be fine. After all, the standard is the standard.

I agree that with this type of injury tied with the upcoming schedule, treat him like Sidney Crosby. The Steelers should be a favorite to win the rest of their games with the exception of maybe the 49ers game. Fully healthy for the post season is key here.

Heal completely and let Carter and Worilds share the reps.

Seriously, it's a hamstring. Why even think about bringing him back unless you're sure it's alright?

I hate to see our most valuable players miss ANY game when the division is so tight.

I just hope we are not over confident as any team can win on any given Sunday....

That being said it makes the most sense to let him heal.

Woodley wants to play vs. Chiefs, but Steelers say otherwise

The Pittsburgh Steelers are not counting on LaMarr Woodley to be able to play this weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs, a team source said Friday.

The team believes the hamstring injury Woodley sustained Week 8 against the New England Patriots will not keep him out an extended period of time, but any possibility of the linebacker playing this Sunday night is ambitious.

Woodley, who has been listed as day-to-day throughout the week, is pushing to play and hasn't been ruled out by the Steelers. The source said, however, Woodley is being advised to rest another week.

The steelers can beat KC with Palko(or Orton?) without Woodley
