The typical procedure is to pick an individual, but when it comes to the performance of the Steelers defense against the New England Patriots last Sunday at Heinz Field, that’s just not possible.
No James Farrior (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/james-farrior/f7f4fe77-9d04-41fa-ba5e-c5c0c49ca51c/). No James Harrison (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/james-harrison/f955db12-de79-47a3-9c61-d50c2583d49b/). LaMarr Woodley (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/lamarr-woodley/ca7b64f1-170e-449e-a835-4851e785246d/) injured a hamstring and missed the last 20 minutes of the game. Ike Taylor (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/ike-taylor/a3a15eb8-af01-4ce7-8607-07a5e88db59f/) played through an injury. So did Keenan Lewis (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/keenan-lewis/6c9eadd4-6bba-4848-bb2c-6cfb0997ba3a/). Ryan Clark (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/ryan-clark/cf65ed11-5ecb-4e40-9341-ff499509537d/), too.
So many individuals made key contributions. Before he was injured, Woodley had two sacks. Larry Foote
(http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/larry-foote/8bbeec8c-cae8-4d79-8c84-eb94ce439442/) played a solid game and handled Farrior’s duties as the quarterback of the unit. Taylor’s coverage was solid all day. So was William Gay (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/william-gay/1a5771c1-6fa2-4076-94a2-44fef5695d61/)’s. Troy Polamalu (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/troy-polamalu/1b1010ec-73b6-414d-88ee-72dbd9b48597/) was flying around. Ziggy Hood (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/ziggy-hood/d5735cbd-2280-4afb-968d-f159d5ca47d3/) was mixing it up along the line of scrimmage. And when the defense needed somebody to make a play to close it out, Brett Keisel
(http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/brett-keisel/e07c42f5-62cd-4b07-828f-1d192885b0c0/) stepped up with a sack/strip..............
