With Hines Ward doubtful, Emmanuel Sanders will start at wide receiver for the Steelers on Sunday in their showdown with the Patriots.
Sanders, a second-year pro, told The Times after practice today that he'll be in the starting lineup.

"I feel good about it," Sanders said. "It's a great opportunity. And I'm looking to capitalize on it.".............

Running game may suffer a bit. Sanders better do his homework on the hot reads.

What ever happened to Antonio Brown? The way the two are playing i thought he would get the opportunity first.

Miller is going to have to step up with the blocking around the end. Sanders better not drop anything. There will be limited opportunities and everybody will be watching.

I'm pretty sure he's already part of the starting line-up...

Wallace, Ward, and Brown are the starting receivers.

Um, Sanders is starting opposite of Mike Wallace. Looks like Brown will be the #3 receiver, and if the Steelers come out with two receivers on Sunday....then Brown won't be considered a starter.

I was referring to the games that were played already. Wasn't Brown starting with Wallace and Ward? If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong.

Cotchery may get some snaps finally.

Hopefully Sanders won't drop a Touchdown pass this time.

I am a bit concerned if Ward is out but these three are all fast and solid receivers....plus Cotchery...it will be interesting.

Wouldn't it be nice if Cotchery sat in on the defensive meetings of the Jets last year and was able to share some tidbits with Lebeau.

I'll fully admit that I could very well be a blubbering little girl when that day comes.

Brown has excelled in the 3rd receiver role. Why change what's working well?

Yup. I've often thought about the same thing. Like when Bettis retired, it just wasn't the same!

Your logic is that the next best receiver behind hines and wallace doesnt deserve a promotion because he's done well as...a #3...?

Hines has dropped them before. Don't compare Sanders to the one that starts with "s" and ends with "d".

I'm with you NEPA, idk about "starting" but I thought our top three WRs were definitely Wallace, Ward and Brown.

as long as hines taught them how to block (ie limas during the afc champ game) i have no worries.

Not in the least....I guess I'm thinking about what I've "heard" and that refers to Brown having some issues with learning about the playbook/routes/etc. Sanders is a more polished route runner and seems to be a real student of the game, although Brown has some SERIOUS potential. It may just be easier for Manny to step in to Hines' role, as opposed to asking Antonio to change what he's doing, because let's face it...what he's doing is pretty darn good!!!

DJ is usually the 2nd TE on the field. Under Arians, they usually start w/2 TE's. However, Brown is usually next in as the 3rd WR.

It really doesn't make much difference, he'll get plenty of reps.

I think it's a good idea to work a bunch of the youngster's in periodically, against bad, mediocre and good teams. How else to learn but in the real situation ? And especially while we have the best, i.e. Hines Ward to teach them on what to do, watch, etc.. I still think Hines will be around for awhile, so not to worry. GO STEELER'S !!

In a salary cap driven league I'm not sure that Ward is really worth the investment after this season? We've got area's of greater concern that they could use that money for. In my opinion the Steelers are going to have to sign a veteran inside linebacker of some pedigree to replace Farrior next offseason, you combine Potsie and Ward's salary you can get a good one if he's out there.
