Who Can Salvage the 2010 Season For the Pittsburgh Steelers?

Who is the bigger loss?

Willi Colon for the season Big Ben for 4-6 weeks vote to see results With the much publicized 4-6 game suspension of Ben Roethlisberger, the loss of super bowl MVP Santonio Holmes, and the recent news of the loss of starting Right Tackle Willie Colon for the season with a torn Achilles, the Steelers look to be in shambles.

The typically stable franchise is now seeming to fall apart at the seams. After winning the Superbowl two years ago, they missed the playoffs entirely last year.

Their much tauted defense gave up 20.2 PPG in 2009 and was 16th in pass defense. That being said, the front seven is still one of the best in the league and they have talent.

If they want to avoid missing the playoffs for a second straight season, they desperately need someone to step up.

Besides the obvious answer of any one at the Quarter Back position for the start of the season, the Steelers will have to rely heavily on their running game. Rashard Mendenhall ran for over 1,100 yards and seven Touch Down's last season. His breakout in 2009 was key to keeping the Steelers alive in the playoff hunt.

This year he is being considered a top ten fantasy running back and will put up big numbers. He definitely can, but if he doesn't then the Steel city will have dug them selves too big of a hole to climb out of by the time Big Ben is ready to start.

The Steelers are always one of the top teams in the league, but this year it doesn't appear that way. They have talent but they will need someone to step up. This will be a crucial season for where the direction of the team goes in the future.

I'm guessing he's referring to definition 4 or 7
As in salvaging our "hopeless" season from danger, perhaps?

I'm assuming he DOES know that there are still 75 days 'til kick-off...but perhaps I shouldn't assume---where's the "Sky is Falling" Cat?
