It became part of the American language, and eventually part of the timeless C&W classic made famous by Ernest Tubb, among others. "You're a-gettin' too old to cut the mustard anymore." Google it. You'll love it, if there's even the smallest dash of country music in your soul.

He's too old, too old He's too old to cut the mustard anymore He's a-gettin' too old, he's done got too old He's too old to cut the mustard anymore When I was young I had a lot of pep I could get around, I didn't need no help But since I'm old and a-gettin' gray The people all look at me and say He's too old, too old He's too old to cut the mustard anymore He's a-gettin' too old, he's done got too old He's too old to cut the mustard anymore

Personally, I think we are going to see one last gasp out of these legendary men in our defense before they sing "Happy Trails".

They are going to go out with a bang, I just have a feeling. And the same goes for Coach LeBeau. I still think he and his guys have a few tricks up their sleeves.

i love aaron smith as much as anyone else but we gotta let him loose after his contract is over this season. All of those season ending injuries since 2007 are adding up. It's been a good run. Thanks for your contributions!

I think Smith and Farrior will and should retire after this season. I am just hoping that they can turn their seasons around and finish the season strong. Then they'll be able to retire on a good note.

It really is sad to see how even 1 year in the age of an athlete can have such a dramatic impact. We have to be mindful of any player in the 34-36 range. We should not bide by exceptions, the rule of thumb is pretty accurate.
