It's a bold prediction on my part and I could be wrong, but I think it's possible.
They have an elite QB, they have the best or 2nd best WR in the NFL and they have an incredible defensive line. If he wins against the Cowboys, they would have good chance to start the season 6-0.
Last year they only lost 28-26 against GB, even if Rodgers had played the entire game and that Stafford did not play.GB is better than Detroit, but they can will compete with Green Bay.
DET-GB will be the next great rivalry for the next 10 years.
I could be wrong, but I think it's possible.

I'd love to see it, if for no other reason then the list of teams (including the Browns) that have never even been there, let alone won one, gets that much smaller and more embarrassing to be on...

Too early. Stafford hasn't even shown that he can make it through a whole season yet. Closer to home, we looked poised for a possible repeat in '09 when we were sitting at 6-2 and look what happened. A 3-0 start is nice and is easily the Lions' best start in years, but it can very quickly unravel. That being said, with our OL being the mess that it is, I'm glad we don't have to play them. Suh alone would eat our lunch.

Teams that have never been to the big dance:
Browns
Lions
Texans*
Jaguars*
*Expansion teams
Oh what joy I would take if Detroit made it, being able to shove the Browns fans around here collective noses deeper in shit...

It was in 2007 with Matt Millen as GM.

Law of averages - you draft in the top 5 year after year long enough and you'll probably wind up with a decent team at some point. Shitcanning Millen was the smartest move they made in a while - he was wasting those picks.

If that were to happen, then maybe there is something to this whole world ending in 2012 thing.
Between the two, I think the Lions are better. They have offense and defense, the Bills are all offense.
I think the Lions are going to easily finish second in the NFC North. The Vikings would be great if the NFL only played two quarters. The Beats are good, but they have offensive line problems and Cutler can't take those hits.
I don't think Stafford has been sacked yet this year. I know he still has to prove he can finish a season healthy.....but if he does the Lions are looking at 10-11 wins. Stafford to Johnson is going to be looked at like Manning to Harrison....only Johnson is a FREAK and will have a better overall career than Harrison.
The Lions, as long as Stafford stays healthy....will be an NFC Wild Card playoff team and will give the Packers a challenge for the NFC North.
Highly unlikely, it would be unprecedented. The team needs to gel more and the playoffs are not the regular season. Good luck, maybe next year.

Too early. In 2007, the Lions looked on their way with a 6-2 start. They proceeded to lose 7 of their next 8 games. Same thing with the Bills. In 2008 they started the season 4-0.
The Lions certainly are a contender, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. They aren't ready for Super Bowl primetime yet. They need to get their feet wet in the playoffs. The November/December grind and the playoffs are a whole different beast than the regular season in September.

Well, if it were to happen, I'd be okay with it. If not the Steelers from the AFC, I'd welcome the Bills back to the big show. ANYONE but the Cheatriots. And it'd be kind of cool for the Lions to have some success for a change.

Possible? Yes. Likely? I think I'd give it more time. Although stranger things have happened. I don't really like to speculate this early.

They have an elite QB,
yeah, I'd say he's among the 31 elite Qbs
I doubt they can overcome the packers for the division, but they could certainly win a wildcard. Then again, last year the bucs were sitting at 10-6 missed the playoffs so it could be tricky....

To be fair, and to rub into the Browns fans even more, the clandestine Browns team (the Ravens), that chose to vacate in the wee hours of the morning, has been to, and even won the SB. So maybe Cleveland (the city) is the real problem. :chuckle:

I wouldn't call Stafford elite yet but he is on his way to be pending health. He has looked good so far. I'll be interested to see his numbers after a full season.

When Fairley gets going and paired with Suh, they could have the start of something. It's too early, yes.
With that said, Go Lions. Beat the f'n Crygirls and make Romo your bitch.

Love the enthusiasm...but....perhaps we could see how the next few matchups unfold and THEN then project the next decade. :chuckle:
